I got the new 36mm Explorer 1 in Steel. I am very happy with it so far. I have never checked the time so much in my life!angusbon wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 8:10 pmCongratulations mate.markee wrote:What a great watch.
It is very interesting to me that this is the second surprise call from an AD to a forum member about a Rolex this week? Especially as I also got a call on Saturday and finally managed to get my hands on an Explorer after two years of trying. Its probably a coincidence but it does make me wonder if things are changing in the crazy world of Rolex?
Can I ask which explorer you're referring to?

In retrospect, I think my mistake was trying to get on a waiting list in the big stores around London where I live. I basically got fobbed off every time I went in as I guess I am not the right sort of client. When I eventually registered with a traditional jeweller out of town, it was all much more straightforward and I really got the feeling the dealer was trying to help.Bungle-ator wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 9:08 pmTwo yearsmarkee wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 5:44 pm What a great watch.

My AD told me I was first in a queue of one for an Explorer (in Feb 2020) and they received one roughly every 3 months. It all went to pot with covid but it was offered it that April.

I got the impression from the sales assistant that they were making a few phone calls to people to let them know that their watches had arrived.markee wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 5:44 pm What a great watch.

Re: After Just Over 2 Years Wait It's Arrived
All of the indicators show that the economy in Asia is slowing so it goes to reason that fewer watches are being sent in that direction. They are probably not sending any to Russia either. That makes more deliveries available for the rest of the world.

I'm not a first time Rolex buyer.strapline wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 6:41 pm Congrats, it really is a design classic. If it's your first you might want to drop your thoughts on the watch and the whole Rolex experience on the 'Rolex a discussion' thread in the other brands part of the forum. It would be great to hear a first time buyers views, if that's what you are!? Once again, lovely watch.

I can say that you now get the warranty card straight away instead of having to wait 12 months.
Now, I dont know if this has always been the policy but the sales assistant told me that they're not allowed to hold watches. If you get the call to say that your Rolex has arrived and you're on holiday etc and can't get to the AD then the watch goes to the next person on the list. You're then allocated the next one to arrive at the shop. Apparently this happened to someone she had called earlier today, he was away for 2 weeks so his watch went to the next person down.

I’d forgotten what this thread was about. When I saw the title I thought it was about people in the UK finally receiving passports after lengthy delays.

Top notch acquisition and a two year wait seems quite reasonable compared to some of the horror stories one hears.
Enjoy it.
Out of curiosity, is it the precise model that you had ordered or had there been an update in the meantime?

Hi Guy,
It was the precise model that I'd ordered, the only difference was the price, it had gone up just over £600 between me ordering it and me picking it up.
Regards, Chris.
