Re: Blue watches? What’s that all about??
I’m not much interested in blue watches (or green, for that matter) but occasionally one will catch my attention. I don’t seek them out.

Why blue? well it's a gorgeous colour, probably my favourite. There are so many shades, tones and hues. Three things I've always loved: the sky, the sea and denim. It generally pairs well with many other colours and, I feel, works very well with watch dials. Sunray and fumé dials can be spellbinding.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, I don't have one...yet.

I agree! Green is everywhere just now. But I think that blue has more longevity than green.

Re: Blue watches? What’s that all about??
I have had a few blue dial watches: C65 TD, Orient Mako, MeisterSinger Metris and Glycine Airman. I also had a C5 Slimline. I still have the Orient, MS and Glycine.
On the whole I prefer a darker blue; these brighter colours, especially the current fad for pastels, leave me a tad cold. I’m probably a bit conservative, but I like my dials in black, white, blue or silver.
Interesting comparison with cars. I don’t change my car that often but I think I have my fourteenth ever car currently on order. It will be my eighth red one. It seems I like red cars. I definitely would not have a watch with a red dial. I have never had a green or silver car. I have had one blue, one white, one black, two grey and my first car was euphemistically described as bronze, though I think scheißbraun would be a better description (1970s Escort, first car!)

Re: Blue watches? What’s that all about??
I love blue watches and ultimately would like 3 quality watches with dials in black (already have this), blue and white or silver.
I’ve had a few blue watches but sold them,
tried several others (CW) but returned them - Dartmouth, C65 Manual
now I have the Sealander Auto which is great,
but still look at and want others - Aqua Terra, Speedmaster, Seamaster, TAG, Rolex OP, B&R Aeronavale, GS Quartz GMT and the list goes on.
The darker shades tend attract me more and even though I never made my mind up about the bright blue C60 Trident Mk2 I have a WTB on SC currently asking for 1.
Cars? I usually buy black or metallic grey. I’ve had 2 blue cars but it was more the condition rather than the colour that attracted me as they were second-hand purchases so no colour choice.

Re: Blue watches? What’s that all about??
Oris make some of the nicest blue watch faces around, and I'd probably own one, were it not for the fact that CW also make a few crackers.
The C60 BLUE is just about all the dive watch I could ever want. Perfect size for me, logo in the correct place and a dial that changes wonderfully under different lighting conditions. I briefly owned a C60 orange sapphire, but found that while it was vibrant in direct light, it looked washed out the rest of the time. Now I realise that the sapphire on the C60 BLUE also looks washed out under certain lighting conditions, but when it does, the blue wave pattern stands out more and saves it. It really is a quite brilliant effect. The C65 Super Compressor was a Christmas gift from my wife and for that reason I don't think I can ever part with it. The sunburst is just lovely and it looks great on the bracelet, the colour matched tibers and the vintage oak strap. There are also a couple that I've moved on. I love the layered effect of the Marloe Coniston dial. I bought the Bluebird on launch day, but the shade of blue, matched from Donald Campbell's Bluebird, just didn't gel with me. I turned to the Speed Edition, inspired by Malcolm Campbell's boat; I much preferred the shades of blue on that watch, but ended up not getting worn much and moved on. I never really liked the lack of a counter balance on the second hand. Marloe have a revised, automatic version on the release slate which I'm looking forward to seeing and maybe there’ll be a shade of blue that does the job.

Re: Blue watches? What’s that all about??
I've seen pics of a fair number of blue watches on this forum that I like (including this thread!), but somehow I don't have many myself.
Just the vintage Soumar:
Apart from this, I do have a blue Omega Dynamic Geneve ladies' Bullseye, but that dial is made up of blue and silver rings so it's technically not a fully blue dial.

I have to say your blue Oris is absolutely lovely. I imagine it's as nice a colour as any other they might do. I don't think I would be looking to sell one of those!missF wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 9:46 pm I DON’T like blue watches. I never have. Blue is for boys. Blue is boring. Especially navy blue. Blue watches seem to be the most common dial colour after black? A bit like blue cars - you see them everywhere.
Some not-particularly-considered thoughts I’ve had over the years about blue watches.... Of course, this is what happened next!
So - I’d like to explore blue watches with you all. Thoughts please, and pictures of your own blues or those of others you admire or lust after. Why do you choose blue?
What model is it exactly?
Maybe a different colour strap to the black one though. I have a good few I would try with that, I think.

Re: Blue watches? What’s that all about??
And I've learned from the University of Youtube that blue colours are chosen for furniture in airport lounges and on airliners (is that still the term?) because it is acknowledged to be calming.

I love the blue Seamaster Pro ^^^. I was looking for one of those many years ago but ended up buying this Breitling instead.
Re: Blue watches? What’s that all about??
I bought my Seamaster and deliberately chose the blue over the black, white, or silver dials. I think for this watch then blue is the best colour.
I bought a watch for my dad last year and he had the choice of watch and went with the IWC Portofino. This came in a few colours and he tried them all before choosing the blue. He still loves it and is very proud of it and I think he chose very well
