This was waiting for me when I got home...
I'm on cooking duties tonight so I'll take some more photos later.
First impressions are very good.

Nearly 3 weeks in! Are you still really pleased with it ? It looks awesome and I was wondering if it met your expectations.

Hi Stuart,
It's safe to say it has surpassed my expectations.
When I first saw it on the website I ordered it straight away, I really liked the design and had been waiting for CW to release a cosc certified black sapphire dial, however I was unsure of the size I usually go for 41 or 42 mm watches, I was also unsure about the screws at 3 and 9 o'clock that secure the dial, they look huge on the various YouTube reviews I have seen of the sapphire dials.
In reality the dial screws are tiny, and you really don't notice them, it may be different for the white sapphire dial, but with the black dial the screws aren't noticeable at all.
The size is great too, its quite thick and the case design is fantastic, so even though its a little smaller than I'm used to, it wears really nicely.
So...as you can probably tell, I'm really pleased with it, did you manage to pick one up for yourself ?

Agree it has surpassed mine as well I love the watch. I got mine 5/13 also after buying it as soon as I saw it and got #54. I was also waiting on a COSC sapphire and it being GMT, black, and in the 39-41 range was perfect for me.

Really like the date location at 6p and the blue GMT and seconds hand. Lot of nice lume on the dial and even bezel which is great.

I think this watch looks really great with the black hybrid strap but I got it with the steel bracelet as well. I wear the black strap more at work and the steel one when going out or on weekends.

Hi David,
Yes I instantly love the look of it but ummed and ahhed for a days before finally making the plunge. So glad I did with all the reviews but because of my ditherings I am waiting for delivery 😕

I have an opportunity to buy this watch at $1700 USD (£1350). I have a white dial Sealander GMT on the way. If I buy the Sapphire, I can’t return it so I’d need to rely on the secondary market if I didn’t like it. $1700 seems a little high though. What’s the community’s take?

Pricing information from CW Archive:

Whoever it is, is asking over RRP, and with no option to return I would say that’s a bit steep!

To be fair they’re asking £1180. It’s the shipping and import duty that is driving the price up

It hurt to do but I passed on it. Maybe someday one will make it my way, but with 200 made that seems unlikely.

I tried to buy one on Reddit for $1380, shipping included, but the guy would only take cash. His prerogative, and he felt strongly about it because he’d been scammed before apparently, but no way I felt comfortable floating that much cash to a complete stranger. Really hurt to let that one go, too.
