Paul it is a 1016. Just with different dial text.

Done as an experiment for the Japanese market in the early 60’s. Never really caught on.

Produced in very small numbers. Likely that an original, at auction, would go for about £100k+.

While I usually go for the dressier and somewhat unattainable in this space, this recently caught my eye.

I do like the colour scheme of that one Ryan. Also looks good with the integrated strap.

As to your better half, I reckon that she may say that it would be preferable if the date was replaced with a numeral at 3. If that doesn’t cast doubt in your mind…..

Then yes you could be in trouble. :)

I think it could be improved with an applied "3" and a borderless colour matched date window, offset around 4-5 o'clock.
I won't say 'no date' because these are designed to appeal to the masses (and I happen to find them useful).
They probably should have just plonked the date @ 6. There is still a lot to like though.

Longines also have my attention with the 37mm Spirit release, especially the blue dial. I think trouble is inevitable! :D

I don't think there are any grail watches that I dream of, but:

- Grand Seiko Heritage Collection Automatic Mens Watch SBGA283G (close enough to grail for me in terms of price)
- https://anordain.com/products/model-2-r ... een-medium (you go on a waiting list if you want one of these).

Waiting on the size of the annual Christmas bonus. A Japanese watch would round off my tiny collection* and something with a Spring Drive would be the icing on the cake.

* Not so much a collection as a bunch of watches acquired over time.
Beat up vintage Swatch Irony, C5 Malvern (the original), Swiss Military Swiss Soldier Quartz, Seagull 1963, Swatch Blurang Automatic, Swatch Cafe de Flore, Sealander GMT, Trident Pro 600, Fitbit Charge 5. Festina 8810, Addiesdive AD2113 knock off.
