Bremont Bamford S500

Post by Soporsche »

New release Ltd edition from Bremont. Whats your thoughts, Bamford bandwagon or cool watch?
I actually quite like it in some ways, for a diver its an interesting take and I like the blue cutout style. Unsure about the California numerals but again, adds a bit of interest.
Its a bit of a beast though at 43mm x 16.5mm depth and 51mm L2L.

I've just been watching their, dark and moody, 1960's Spy Thriller style video on this. . .
.
.
. . Yes; I'll go with cool watch and would gladly swap my Supermarine S2000 for one. Mind you, a C60 Abyss SH21 is equally cool.

I've not looked at the price but presumably the Bamford connection adds a 20% premium. :-k :-k

Yup, thanks Stephen. I've seen that on Facebook now.

Doesn't actually seem too bad (high).

It’s a standard S500 size and shape, with a cutout Cali dial over a solid disc of luminous material. The handset is first for Bremont, as is the ceramic relief bezel with polished markings.

At £3,995 it’s a £500 premium over a standard steel S500 (I think the DLC usually adds a couple of hundred quid), and it’s cheaper than the recent S502 Jet.

I was initially put off by the California dial but have warmed to it and now I really like it and all things considered it’s not extortionate for a Bremont LE with a Bamford connection.

I was at the launch and spent a good amount of time with each of the brothers and with George Bamford himself - very approachable for a billionaire.

Me too. I would normally allow a DLC, California dial with blue undertones style watch to pass by uncommented as I wouldn't be fussed, but this is really nice (IMO - I appreciate it's not for everyone!)

Wasn't sure about this when I looked at it this morning, but it has grown on me considerably. The California dial and the blue make it really interesting. The stumbling block for me would be the thickness and the value proposition at £4K. As always with Bremont, what would £4K get you from other manufacturers? That said it's different, with a dial that will certainly draw attention and discussion.

I’m clearly ignorant of this but I think it’s a bit odd, an homage to a rich bloke’s son? I may wait for the Bremont Tamara Ecclestone, motorsport style of course.

:D Yep the Bamford association means nothing to me either. I was looking at it purely from a watch/value/aesthetic perspective.
As per Des's comments I always end up looking at their price point vs other brands and to date haven't really bought into the Bremont proposition.
I do have to say that aside from the thickness, Its growing on me re its looks.

He's a rich bloke's son who has his own watch company - I don't think it's an homage to anything, more a collaboration.

Don't like it one bit, but some of their modifications/designs are decent.
