A WATCH BY ANOTHER NAME......IS A WATCH

Post by Woodell »

While surfing on Tues. I found a watch company named Orange Watch Co.......
They have one model...SUB.homage...Choice of mvts. .....Two dial colors.....two bezels.
One is a Seagull....One Soprod.....
The name Seagull....... Couldn't the Chinese find a better name??
And Orange ????? I can see a Monty Phython skit there...
Sir...I noticed your lovely watch...Might I ask what is it?
Oh...yes ...It's an Orange.
You see where this could go ?. Same with SEAGULL...So..I have come up with two new names for these two
companies.(Seagull , Orange )
The RIST WATCH COMPANY......AND the GO'TE HELL Watch Co.
I removed the I.M.BROKIN & SOHNE Co. from the running, along with the RUSTI MOVEMENT SA..
Any ideas from this forum is greatly appreciated.. 8)
Wear: C-60 Trident......Xezo Tribune LE
Own but never wear: Adriatica "Pilot" - Baume & Mercier "Capeland" - Swiss Military Hanowa
"Railroad Chrono." - Sector "SK-8" - Movado - Elgin "Swiss"

Just had to google...they're Australian

So I was thinking...
 g'day watches
 no worries watches
 not a pommy watch co.

:D

On the subject of the watches $300 USD for a Sea-gull movement seems a bit much, even if based on ETA 2824. I'd have said $100 less would be about the right ballpark. At least then competing with watches with Miyota movements...and I'd still choose Miyota.

Just 'cause it's a Chinese movement you shouldn't be so sniffy and blinkered about it. Orange have an increasing reputation for well made watches.

Well in that case it's a good job you don't do the pricing for them then as their profits would plummet 8)
If you can read this you are too close to your computer screen....

Not been sniffy. It's just at the back of my mind I'm sure there's still several stores in Singapore plus lots more on the internet that'd sell me a watch with a Chinese movement for a lot, lot less :D

Just working on the price of the likes of SeaPro (as I've just got one) with a Miyota movement.

Then at the end of the day a watch is just a watch :D

Like to think I don't dismiss any watch or make. I'll certainly be going back to the site to see what their vintage watch will look like though!

Orange Watch have already changed their name (the logo seems unchanged though) - I believe they were forced to by another Orange - they're OWC now .... or rather he is. OWC is a one-man band (Dan a.k.a. "foxint") who is designing his own, sourcing the bits and getting them made up.
He's banned from WUS but active on homageforum.
Every stage and frustration of the watch development process can probably be found on threads on homageforum.
