Re: NFT Watches
I’m curious. I wonder if there’ll be non fungible AD’s, waiting lists and grey markets?

Re: NFT Watches
Having had chance to consider it now I would probably only buy an NFT watch if it was 70% off .

Re: NFT Watches
I was very late to the party when it came to getting a smartphone. I imagine that in 30 years time most of you will have fully downloaded yourselves into the machine. Myself and a straggly bunch of renegagades (read late responders) will still be wandering around on planet Earth wondering why it got so quiet so quickly.... Does anyone remember the sci-fi series ‘Tripods?’ - on TV before the internet was even invented? Well, just a bit like that
watching you fail in your quest for a “one watch” has been great entertainment

Wouldn’t that need to be an NNNFT?

Re: NFT Watches
I guess if these NFT’s take off with watch collectors we could be facing a ‘fungible crisis’.

Re: NFT Watches
The NFT is a difficult concept to get your head around, perhaps more so for the older of us.
I'm aware of some of the more high profile NFT sales and recall reading about them over the past year or two. The first one I recall was the "Charlie bit my finger" famous youtube video, the family sold that for $760,999 (had to google that to find the figure). Andy Murray also sold an NFT of the moment he first won Wimbledon for $177,777.
In a way, I can see the parallel to owning a unique piece of art, however it's a concept where I struggle to see the value. Having said all that, Alex's tongue in cheek comment about coming back in 30 years to look at this thread might show us to be luddites.
As for the watches on that OP's link they are hideous. I think some of the virtual models should urgently seek a consultation with their dermatologist too.

Re: NFT Watches
What I have a very hard time understanding about NFTs in general is where their value is. I could say the same about Bitcoin or the multitude of cryptocurrencies that now exist. I would have felt like a fool investing 1000 USD in a Bitcoin 5 years ago but I wouldn't mind having one today. I say investing now with the benefit of hindsight, but 5 years ago I probably would have said wasting or betting. People are putting a lot of money in NFTs. If I had to take a wild guess I would say that in a few years a lucky few are going to be glad they did but a vast majority are going to have regrets. We probably won't have to wait 30 years for that.
As for NFT watches, if Rolex, Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe start issuing NFT instances of their best sellers, I'm pretty sure there are going to be waiting lists and a flourishing grey market. In my opinion, when someone is ready to pay several times the retail price for a given watch it's all about the status symbol and not about the watch. And owning an expensive NFT watch that you can show off in the metaverse is shouting "status symbol".
On the bright side, NFT watches should limit the occurrence of questions such as "Did you buy a new watch?" or "What was in the package that you received yesterday?".

No idea, but let’s assess the situation. We need to find shelter.
Here is a promising looking cave.
Looks more like a burrow to me. Stick your head in and take a look.
“Head-in-burrow”…sounds a good name for a place. Let’s stay here and start a civilisation.
