Simon freese would be my first port of calltreyford wrote: ↑Wed Dec 22, 2021 6:17 pm An update from my earlier post. I went to my favourite AD and they help me open the case. Attached is photo of the movement.
They also confirmed that the hallmarks on the reverse of the caseback shows that the case was made by Dennison in 1921 and the case is 9ct gold with a Birmingham Assay mark. It appears that the last time it was serviced was in 1957.
I now realise that this most likely to be my grandfather's watch and not my father's.
It does run for short periods but winding is extremely stiff and I now going to have to find someone who can service it in the UK, can anybody give me any recommendations with contact details please. I would be very grateful for any other information about the name and style of the watch.

If you have a Serial number on the Movement, you can date it via:-
https://pocketwatchdatabase.com/search/ ... er/waltham
I couldnt see one - at least not legible - good luck

I phoned Simon Freese this morning and he is going to send me a post package in the New Year and he will then see whether he is able to do a service and give me a quotation. Thanks for the recommendation.golfjunky wrote:

This particular Seiko was my first ever watch; mother bought it for me with green shield stamps. I've still got that watch but it's rather beaten up.
This example came to me through EBay and it not only looks good but keeps good time. Might do with a strip/clean/service though.

Vintage watch of the day (30 years+)
The latest one in; Seamaster chronograph from 1973. It’s had a full rebuild from an Omega certified watchmaker and it looks like it’s becoming a favourite.

^^^^ Very nice collection you have going there.
Time and money? I’ve spent most of mine on booze and women. The rest I just wasted…
