Took a trip out today and ended up near a pile of old stones seen in the distance in photograph 1.

I really like the look of that Monkey, scooter. Looks like great fun!

I was out on the CB again. As I get to ride this bike more, I realise just how 'perfect' it is for me. Happy at any old speed and on any old road - and just glad to be in the fresh air.

Outside Isaac Walton's cottage in Staffordshire - dating from the 1650's according to Wikipedia.

And a view over several counties with the Wrekin on the horizon:

Great photos and that Honda looks positively Old School to me.

The only thing that I could remember about Isaac Walton was that he had written The Compleat Angler but had to check Wiki to be sure.

Your knowledge of Mr Walton is on a par with mine then - despite the fact my childhood home is about 5 miles from his cottage, and I feel I should know more about him.

As for the Honda, yes it's old school but it stops, turns and handles like a modern bike. It lacks the effortless overtaking punch of the GS but it's not slow by any means. The big thing is the grin factor. I love it, although I feel like I need a 'retro' helmet and jacket now...

Old School with a twist of modernity is the way to go.

A bit like The Monkey I guess.

You can't beat getting a new bit of clobber either.

Yes they are Patrick.

Longleat has cycle routes 24 and 25 running through it although I don't think Ceawlin (Lord Bath) is overly enthused by that.

A short ride to the PO this morning:
I'm glad you weren't injured because some **** couldn't tie down his load properly.

I came across these two characters on my ride home from work yesterday. The Canadians (and maybe some of the Americans) on the board should recognize them:

Lavaine

So who are they for us Brits?

Today's ride took me through Stourhead, Shaftesbury and Wilton seeing me taking some exercise at The Fovant Badges.

Scooter, those two fine fellows are Bob and Doug McKenzie. Fictional brothers from the sketch comedy show SCTV in the early 80's, created and played by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas. The two brothers were featured in the "Great White North" sketches, which basically just poked fun at Canadian culture. The characters were such a hit they ended up recording an album, doing a movie, and an animated TV show.
The statue was erected this spring in honour of the pair, who created the characters while SCTV was being filmed in Edmonton.
