Out and about by the River Severn on a glorious bank holiday Saturday. I’ve never seen the M5 this empty on a weekend before!

A Day in the life of... / A day out of lockdown
I captured a few images of my day out of lockdown today. A day spent in the outdoors, on motorcycles.
The day started early-ish at about 8AM, out in the back garden en-route to the garage. I noted how lovely the tree blossom looked and that it was about time I cut the lawn:
Arriving in the garage I was presented with my first choice of the day. Honda or BMW?
Normally I would choose the BMW for this duty but the Honda won (I decided last night if truth be told):
A short journey followed, ending with the bike parked in fairly utilitarian surroundings:
Into another garage and I was presented with my second choice of the morning. BMW or Yamaha?
Again, it was not really a choice because I'd already pre-booked the Yamaha:
By the way, that hi-viz livery really works - and they keep the windows clean in these parts:
So, another short journey and I arrive at my first collection point, Royal Stoke University Hospital:
That temporary metal fence is surrounding a newly established massive refrigerated facility. I'll leave you to work out the intended use...
Anyway... Having collected a few boxes, I travelled to Birmingham. This is my second stop (I forgot to take a picture at the first one) - the Medical School at Birmingham University:
Normally, this place is teeming with life. Today there was a couple of signs on the door. The first one said "Medical School closed to students" and the second one said "Beware - wet varnish".
I often wonder what's in these boxes..
I then nipped around the corner to the fairly new Queen Elizabeth hospital...
Again, it's normally difficult to park here, but these days, there's no problem at all.
Having dropped off my deliveries, I rode back from Birmingham to my home in South Cheshire, anticipating a nice lunch and perhaps another call later in the afternoon. I was at home precisely six minutes when the call came.
So, I set off for County Hospital, Stafford (the home town of yours truly and the subject of a grim tale of the healthcare crisis of the noughties).
My delivery point was back in Birmingham - the National Blood Service (Blood Bank) in Birmingham. This is the trade entrance!
Final stop of the day. A BP service station to fill up the FJR.
During this crisis, BP are funding all of the fuel costs for blood bikes, which is nice of them. Today I clocked up 241 miles on the Yamaha.
Having dropped off the Yamaha, I'm swapping one four-cylinder bike for another. I may be biased but I think the Honda is a bit more attractive:
Finally, home again - to discover the lawn has been done!

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride
^^^I guess you know this Richard but if anyone else is wondering?
UN3373 Biological Substance, Category B can be human or animal material including (but not limited to) blood and its components, tissue, tissue fluids or body parts being transported for purposes such as research, diagnosis, investigational activities, disease treatment or prevention.
Biological Substance, Category B means an infectious substance that is not in a form generally capable of causing permanent disability or life-threatening or fatal disease in otherwise healthy humans or animals when exposure to it occurs.
So...don’t peek in the box,

A very interesting and informative post.
Of course 2 wheeled transport was also included which also ticks the box.

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride
^^^very interesting photos and story of your day earlier in the week Richard, again well done on the worthwhile role you are doing
Late afternoon climb up to the local reservoir for me today.
You might be able to make out in the midde of this last photo, the 3 cantilevers of the famous Forth Rail Bridge, built in the 1880's and still in use. It is a Unesco World Heritage site
