Bit of a milestone this morning:
It seems to have happened very quickly (since 21/06), although I expect my mileage will slow down as the summer transitions into autumn.

Thanks, done a total of .5km around our roof terrace! Off to a house viewing tomorrow and the dentist later, I think I’ll wear a helmet
The biggest issue will be going back to ‘proper’ brakes after 8 months of ‘back pedal’ coaster brakes!

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride
Oh man... I love cycling! I've actually been quite addicted to it since I was a child. If I don't ride a bike for a week, I get cranky.
This is my new ride as of early May this year: Before that, I was merrily cycling along on a rather old "hybrid" (a bike that didn't know what it was). We decided on switching to motorisation after my wife had a small cerebral stroke a year ago, and can't do a decent unmotorised cycling trip anymore... so we decided to splurge and buy us two decently equipped Flyers.
I used mine to ride to work on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the ride was a lot more fun than the job, so I switched jobs recently, and at 30 miles, the new job is a bit too far away to cycle.
These Flyers are quite affordable, considering the level of workmanship and the quality of the components used (Shimano Deore XT, expensive lighting, very sturdy carrying rack, expensive Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires). I was afraid that the relatively long wheel base (what with the battery being behind the saddle tube) would make handling sluggish, but that's not the case -- it corners like a housefly.
And.... they're Swiss made!
My wife's bike is more oriented towards comfort (seat post with suspension, Magura hydraulic rim brakes), mine is a bit more sporty, with disc brakes and a decent gear shifter and all (her bike has an 8 speed Shimano hub).
We've been cycling more this summer than we've done in the entire year before that.

I’m taking part in the Pedal for Scotland event this Sunday, route is Glasgow to Edinburgh, about 45 miles on my hybrid bike. It’s the final time they are running the event after 20 years. It’s all closed roads and over 6,000 riders. It’ll be my third time doing this, always great fun.

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride
Slightly belatedly here's a few photos from Pedal for Scotland that I completed last Sunday. It was the final year of an event that has been going for 20 years, Glasgow to Edinburgh on closed roads. This year I beleive there were over 9,000 riders. It's a bit of a shame as it is great fun seeing people of all ages out on bikes of all types. The freedom of cycling on closed roads is also amazing. A few fairly hilly sections but managed to complete it without feeling too worn out.Thegreyman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2019 7:44 pmCheers Steve, yes I'll try and get a few pics on the dayThermexman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2019 3:27 pm ^^^Have a great ride Patrick. A few weeks time I have the tougher Poppy Scotland Sportive which is quite a bit hillier and much windier event in East Lothian. I've been collecting some sponsorship for this as it is in support of the Earl Haig Fund, I've even had a very kind gent from the forum sponsor me (thanks, you know who you are!). So better keep the training going for a few more weeks.
Anyway here are the photos from last Sunday, I'm the one in the black and yellow vest, blue bike. The picturesque stop is the final of 3 feeding stations, beside Linlithgow Palace although in truth, myself and the two other guys I was with went to a nearby Greggs for lunch (well we are Scottish after all )
