So what would you like to see CW make?

Post by KevRC4130 »

Christopher Ward himself just joined the forum, so I think maybe we could give him some ideas of what to do next.

Personally, I'd love to see a rectangular, black faced watch, with a nice dark brown alligator or crocodile strap. Something similar to the Girard Perregaux 1945 or Ebel Tarawa. Of course, it would have a display back and be automatic.

I'd also love to see something with a white face and stylized Roman numerals.

Maybe something with blue hands?

Maybe something made in Switzerland? :D

For my sons, not myself, as I only buy Swiss/German Made, etc., I would like to see a SS case/bracelet chronograph utilizing the 7750, if you did this and it was assembled in China (that is where these are all made I assume) then you should be able to do it for around $500-$600 US instead of twice that which is the usual for the low end Swiss Made...

toughest part of that is paying that much money for anything made in China...sorry, but that is the hurdle to these products.

I mostly agree. I'm actually quite curious to know what an identical Malvern Automatic would cost had it been Swiss made rather than China made w/ Swiss movements. Obviously, CW is about value, but if the premium was only around $50-100, I think CW watches would have MANY more friends. I think a Malvern Automatic being Swiss Made would still be less than $500-600, because Hamilton, Tissot, etc can make Swiss made watches for well below $500, and CW is basically selling wholesale. I'd love a Swiss Made Malvern Automatic for around $250, and I'm sure LOTS of other people would as well.

I'd love to see a nice and simple aviator watch.
I'd also like to see a watch with something special like a retrogarde date or something.

KevRC4130, I think you are thinking along the lines of what I want when you say:

I'd also love to see something with a white face and
stylized Roman numerals.

Maybe something with blue hands?

Here's what I would like:

Swiss automatic movement (ETA 2824 is just fine).
Sapphire Crystals front and back
Gold plated (10 microns) case
White gillouche face
Applied roman numerals with bottom arc right-side up.
Blued breguet style hands
Same band as on the Malverne Auto

Perhaps have an additonal upgrade option for a skeletonized and decorated version of the movement.

All this at $350 or less, USD.

Am I dreaming?

That sounds really good, and I think $350 USD or less would be feasible (for a stainless version anyways, I don't know about gold...). I love the idea of a skeleton watch... Are you listening Chris!? :D

..I mentioned this to CW earlier but I think a handwound Malvern would be kind of nice.

I like the CW malvern automatic very much. It is a winning combination.

However things that can be changed(without letting the price go up a lot) are:

another ETA movement. For example an ETA 2836. Just one that gives the watch another look from the back. The gold finishing of the back should be kept, its great.

Another type of dial with other color etc. Maybe with a small second?

a slightly bigger size for the next automatic watch. About 40mm.

If CW makes another automatic watch like this i will buy it immediately.

A watch with small seconds that is handwound would be very nice too.

Small seconds and power reserve indicator both sound awesome. And of course, mechanical.

if cw creates a rectangular watch, with a glass back, the movement better be also rectangular, i hate round movements in rectangular watches.

But i like to see a clear design with an reserverindicator
