^^^ I love PP, but that style can be had for a lot less money and more authenticity.

Agreed. I had decided that this is the Rolex watch for me having tried on the new 39mm 214270 at an AD a few weeks ago but I need to try the 36mm 114270 and a blue 3 6 9 Oyster to make my final decision.nbg wrote:One to keep in mind I reckon, far more than a vintage DJ.atnits wrote:
In my view, far and away the best “one watch” Steel Rolex, that is genuinely suitable for any occasion.

Of the two, I suspect this is more likely to stay in the wear rotation after you do purchase a more expensive flyer, primarily as it's different enough to the bulk of flyers to remain attractive to you.smegwina wrote:Thinking of cheaper pilots to scratch an itch whilst considering more expensive ones

I have been dreaming for awhile about this one, until this past Tuesday anyway when I payed for it and now I am dreaming about its delivery date.
This will be my first Oris and my first display back.
Cheers, Mike.

I have tried one on and they are simply Awesome. Great crystal and lume like a torch. Feel good in the wrist too. But the price is just silly.

They are just stunning aren't they.
Selfridges had a blue one amd it was rather splendid, but 40mm is too small for me.
Have been looking at these for a while, but am stuck between chrono/3 hander, bronze/steel, and even 45/48mm case.
It is a minefield!

I can't help but feel that if this was from a "lesser" brand (CW for example), it would have the p!$$ ripped out of it with that "EXTRA SPECIAL" dial.smegwina wrote:They are just stunning aren't they.

The aesthetics of the watch are lovely which makes it more of a needless addition imho.

The text doesn't really bother me, but if it did, the brand wouldn't matter, I still wouldn't like it.StrappedUp wrote:I can't help but feel that if this was from a "lesser" brand (CW for example), it would have the p!$$ ripped out of it with that "EXTRA SPECIAL" dial.smegwina wrote:They are just stunning aren't they.

It is no different to Superlative blah, blah.... Rotor self winding....... Etc, etc. Many don't like text on a dial, regardless of brand, and I can totally see why. (Indeed, when I started looking at these at the end of last year, many on here commented on the Pilot/extra special text. )
