Least disruptive watch brand?

Post by poppydoodlesdad »

CW has come in for quite a bit of stick recently (justifiably?) for its bizarre marketing hyperbole.

However, it strikes me that CW are hardly alone in spouting out this kind of thing when it comes to trying to push their brand values (and watch makers are hardly the worst!).

So, who do you think are the most 'honest', 'straight talking' brands when it comes to matching the blurb with the actual product?

This is about least disruptive watch brands, not most predictable answers.

I think Steinhart and Nomos limit the hyperbole quite nicely

For me, it is Casio.

Yes they have the blurb, but it is backed up every step of the way by the products.

G-shock, Oceanus, Edifice etc etc. Each family is fairly groundbreaking in their own way, andost of us own at least one.

(Granted some of the special editions may be a bit over the top, but I can forgive them that.)

They also sell some of the cheapest beasties out there that are no nonsense, get what you pay for introduction watches.

I know its not a watch brand but the Bank of England does pretty well for being straightforward:

"I promise to pay the bearer."

However, I'm not so sure about the recent change of logo.

Its got a hologram of the queen at the nine o'clock position, jesus!

Right, from now on i am only going to buy Euros and of course Swiss Francs. I might even come on here daily and tell people this because it will make a difference to the Bank Of England who will clearly reverse their decision and revert to the old notes.

Yes! I really want a rolex with the self-serving "superlative" word on the dial

Seems to me that some of the best 'no nonsense' websites are produced by Companies/Brands that produce 'no nonsense' watches.

Three that spring to mind are;-

Elloit Brown - small, young British firm producing rugged 'outdoor adventure' watches.

Marathon - Canadian firm producing Swiss Made genuine Military spec watches for Canadian and US Armed forces.

Mer-Air-Terre - young French company who initially, in 2005, produced a special order of watches for police officers belonging to RAID, the special French police enforcement unit and have now expanded.

Just my, on topic, two pence worth.
