Schaumburg anyone?

Post by Old Bald One »

While browsing, I came across this little beauty.
Image
Pricewise, it's not too expensive, about 1300 euros.
I hadn't come across this company before, but some of their watches look terrific.
Does anyone know anything about them, or their watches?
Their website references to the movements would indicate in-house, but I wouldn't have thought so for the price.

My wife asks "how many watches do you need?"
My reply "how many handbags do you need?"

That movement is an ETA / Unitas 6498.
Although a lot more decorated than normal.

Still a young watch company , started in 1998 and they are based in Rinteln , Germany . Has far as I'm aware they use other movements and modify/highly modify them producing their own calibre , I believe they are handmade .

For example the SW 11 is a Soprod A10 based calibre
SW -07 is a Unitas/ETA 6498
SW-07.9. Unitas/ETA again .

Looking at some of their movements it seems they modify them to a high standard , plates , 3/4 bridges and balance cocks look highly decorated , plates and bridges look rodium plated/ bevelled . They produce their own dials some are ceramic , others like the Perpetual Moon Meteorite dial are made from fragments of asteroid , found in the Namibia desert . I think some of their watches are real beauties and nicely priced .

I agree - some real gems there. I really enjoyed exploring their watches. Amongst all the gems, I liked a bit of a quirky one - the orange diver!

Some very nice watches. The regulators and moonphases are both very nicely executed. I like the little touch of having a North and South hemisphere versions of the moonphase. The engine turned dials on the Classik are beautifully executed as well.
