The Mark 11 Military Watch .

Post by tempusmaximus »

Perhaps more than any other watch in history , the mk11 truly embodies what it means to be a "tool watch" . Manufactured by International Watch Company and Jaeger LeCoultre , based on specifications provided by the British Ministry of Defence (MOD) the mk11 was designed from the ground up with functionality and utility at the forefront .

Fascinating article Bern.

Shows just how tough these old mechanicals were.

Hate to think what a Dirty Dozen is worth!

I think our very own Paul D has one of these?

Great read Bernie. Love the Mk11 watch and all the successors. The MkII linked at the end of the article is a nice homage, and of course I love my SBIII . Nothing (including the modern IWC's) compares to the originals though.

I'd take a Timefactors Speedbird over this all day every day. Nice enough, but not AS nice or as good value IMO.

Paul owns a JLC 6b which is its predecessor of sorts.

A complete dirty dozen is up for sale at Watches of Knightsbridge next month I think so we will soon see it's total value.
I miss all the great things that may never be.

Here is a link to the story of the dirty dozen. Fascinating and who wouldn't love owning the full set, although apparently a few of them (Grana) are like hens teeth. I'm sure the cost of even trying to collect the set is prohibitive.
