Is this Speedmaster good value?

Post by st-rider »

Window shopping again.
Came across a white Speedmaster.
Asking price was ballpark £2800.

On Omega site identified it as a 40mm racing. I was rather taken with it. Previously I had been thinking a '57 would be my Speedmaster of choice.

Thanks for any advice.

I think the Racing is a good size. But I also like the 57.

You should be able to pick up a pre-owned version of either for a reasonable price.

Available for £2.4k at iconic. I don't think the "Racing" series have been a runaway success like some other Speedy derivatives, so second hand prices are quite soft - making them a good value used buy.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I believe this is a new unused watch, just been sold to clear stock. So probably explains the price (which looking at Omega site is below rrp).

I am wary of 2nd hand Omega, Rolex etc. as too many very good fakes even with box and papers. Might have to dip a toe in the water.

2.4 at iconic? So not good value, is this model discontinued already or no?

If the cards turn out to already be are signed and stamped it's a customer return therefore second hand.
I miss all the great things that may never be.

I really like the Speedy racing, quite gorgeous subdials that really don't show up well in photographs. My only issues with the line is A) height (tall pieces) and B) the very low price on the secondary market. However, for 2400 quid, I'd consider it.
Omegas, Seikos and a Breitling. G-Shocks when wearing green. Soon to be CW-owner.
