Ironically, the best services I have received was from a high street retailer housed in a shopping centre near a river. Absolutely phenomenal service, (granted I have spent a few quid in there!!)

Re: Buying watches at ADs or ordering watches online?
I tend to do a bit of both. I like to support local businesses and bricks & mortar shops, and I appreciate their service to a degree. But when they fail to budge on price I will buy online. A recent case in point was a £3k plus watch. I went out that day to make a purchase, but both ADs would not budge on price. One offered a free service. But still that did not warrant the circa £800 I knew I could save if I bought said watch online. The 'service' they provided in terms of letting me try on the watch, perhaps remove a link or two, and maybe even massage my ego a bit by saying how well the watch suited me was not, in my view, worth £800. So I went home and purchased online, and they lost a not insignificant sale that day.
