A friend of mine has got this one, got to say it looks stunning in the Flesh.

I agree that its a stunning watch, and I'll probably have one someday. I just don't think it makes as much sense for a daily/one watch as a vintage Submariner :-)
There are a couple on here too :D Posted within the last week or so :-"

^^Looks great! The color is pretty muted in most real-life situations.
Let me know if you want to trade Submariners :D

Isn't the Navi in particular a little larger than your usual size range? Or is there a smaller model I'm unaware of?

The Navi is the 38mm version, made in the mid-nineties

Perfect sizing then... My money would go to the Navitimer, but both are probably modern classics.

This just caught my eye, as I like Aviators, the New Fortis Aviatis Fleigler Pro Chronograph, due to be released at Baselworld in March (http://www.fortis-swiss.com/new-arrivals-2016/)

Full review, ahead of Baselworld, may be seen here;- https://youtu.be/FySJRZGa1kY

Saw this on Watchrecon - pretty cool mod to a new watch to make it look old.

You know? There's something beguiling about a dark brown dial. Don't understand why they are not more popular.

Guy

Sent from my Xperia Z5 Premium
. . . that leads me into my current nocturnal thinking, and daytime too, of a Hanhart Primus Pilot with brown dial

Image

which I saw in the metal at Page & Cooper on Wednesday.

Actual dial colour is a shade darker than this photo but the brilliant, for me at any rate, factor is that the Brown dialled Primus Pilot has case sides, top and articulated lugs with a brushed finish; whereas on Hanhart's website they appear polished (which I'm not too keen on).

The other Primus Pilots have got polished cases that don't really look right to me on an Aviator, which ought to be brushed or blasted.

My alternate thought for a Primus Pilot though is the Desert Sand version, with blasted case.

Image

Page & Cooper didn't have one of these to look at and the Desert Sand version is, reportedly, their best seller.

Looking at the Hanhart answered several of the questions I had, but Jonathan then showed me the new Damasko DK14-MB with in-house silicon bearing low friction movement, which never needs lubricating.

Image

In a word; stunning!

The feel and quality were fantastic. I was also able to do the scratch test with a screw on a demo Damasko case to demonstrate its hardness and resistance to marking. No matter which way I scratched the case, it would not mark. Most impressive.

Finally, we discussed elements of the new Fortis range/s, due to be released at BaselWorld in less than two weeks time, which has given me more food for thought.

Overall, a great visit but it posed more questions than it answered. :problem:

Guy, the dark brown, looks lovely, but IMO the sand is just stunning, I can understand why it's their best seller... Hmmm, food for thought :)
