my friend's lemmy story....

Post by missF »

my friend used to be a sound engineer. he's just emailed me to say this:

the only words lemmy ever spoke to me:
'turn it up a bit son'

I'm a gutted by Lemmy's death. He lived life to the max and certainly he did it his way.

It comes as a great surprise to my colleagues that I have a few Motorhead CDs in the car and quite often crank up the volume when I'm on my own. From now on I will remember the words "turn it up a bit son".

Not my kind of musician, but I salute a Potteries legend. RIP.

to be fair, i'm pretty sure every guitar player says that to a sound engineer. at least every one i've ever been in a band with.

but, still... it's way cooler to hear it from a real legend than a legend in his own mind type. :)

I have never been a big Motörhead fan, but one cannot deny what a legend this chap was. He earned deep respect from musicians and fans of many genres, and his music appealed to many. I wasn't shocked when I heard the news, more saddened. After watching him get interviewed on TV before playing Glastonbury this summer, it was clear there were health issues, but being 70 and living the lifestyle he did one might expect them.

RIP fella, your legacy will live on forever. Killed by Death

Ace of Spades is one of the best rock songs ever. I was very saddened to hear the news. RIP Lemmy.
