Ball Engineer Genesis II

Post by Greg DeRuiter »

I don't know if anybody is interested but I have just ordered the new Ball Engineer Genesis II with delivery March 2016. The watch is being made to celebrate Ball Watch's 125th anniversary.
The reason I am posting is that Ball are running a limited offer of a 50% discount for order placed before 31st December 2015 or until they sell their quota of discounted watches. Basically £684 that includes delivery will get you a £1400 worth of automatic watch with microgas light illuminated dial. I thought that was a pretty good deal so I ordered one as a 50th birthday present for myself. Free engraving too up to 12 characters.

Congrats on the new watch - although you will have to endure a wait... :D

There was a thread about this watch a couple of weeks ago - http://www.christopherwardforum.com/vie ... =8&t=34419

I decided against ordering this although the bargain price was very tempting. Looking forward to seeing some wrist shots when it arrives and congratulations on the purchase :)
I am not a collector of watches. I used to be able to say that and know I was telling the truth.

That's a very tempting price for one of my favourite brands. I previously commented on this watch in the thread highlighted by downer but we all know how fickle we are when it comes to our obsession so who knows...

Nice one Greg...however, are you sure of the final price?
I did notice that "taxes were not included".

I was tempted but the added tax where I am now would add 27% plus.

Great price though, and I bet it looks great on the wrist.
I look forward to your pictures when it arrives

The price includes VAT. When you click through the order process they add 20% VAT. The actual price was £570. I will most definitely post some wrist shots - some time in March !

I think that looks very interesting; I would be tempted but there's no way I could broach the subject of another watch. I would love to know what combination you have gone for. It's a shame you have to pay now.

For me I would choose a blue face with either the brace or brown strap.

Thanks for that Greg, much appreciated.

If I hadn't spent rather a lot over the past few months the 40mm blue dial on bracelet would have been
ordered.

A cracking deal - Congrats to those that "took the plunge"

Very strange. I reserved mine several weeks ago. However, I just got a very apologetic email from Ball stating that PayPal is no longer an authorized method of payment for the watch, so they refunded me (via paypal) and asked that I re-reserve with a credit card. Hmm.

That is weird. I was going to use PayPal but at the last moment I opted to use my CC. Glad I did now.

I reckon that the discount price of the Ball Engineer Genesis II is pretty good, and I admire your patience in having to wait for so long before taking possession of the watch. My only concern about this watch was mentioned on the earlier thread about this model, and that is the style and visual effect of the numerals. I personally feel that the numerals do tend to somehow cheapen the look of what is a fine watch. However, if the quality is there and you are happy with the aesthetics then hell, why not.
