Anyone have any experience of Steinhart Watches

Post by Moose »

I wondered if anyone had any experience or point of view on Steinhart watches.
The main thing is quality and source. Does anyone know if they use genuine swiss parts and production, or is there a chinese element involved?
Also, should one be wary of the fact that they have similar brands around like Robert and Govana which appear to be the same watches with different markings?
Appreciate anything you might have to share...

My memory may be playing tricks on me but I think there was a recent thread on Steinhart in the forum, might be worth a quick search.

I do not have one but I believe they are what they say they are; German design, Swiss made, Swiss movements (albeit many Swiss movements nowadays will have far-eastern components). They are exactly the same as Debaufre, which is the name they trade as in the USA.

I imagine the Grovanas that look similar are the Sub-alikes (Steinhart Oceans).

Hi Bonny - no your memory isn't playing tricks - I started a thread a week or so ago :)

They make som pretty fine watches, I think my next watch is likely to be this one:

The Nav.B-Uhr,Limited Silver Edition. It's a really sweet mix of tradition and cutting edge ( sandwich dial with a black super-luminova lume).

I'm increasingly drawn to the Steinhart Aviation series, which of course, are 'influenced' by the B&R Instrument watches.

This is my favourite.
