...is an analogue watch. The hands look silly on a digital watch.

Some might suggest the C900 SP.

I think it would look terrible on a C900 Mono pusher but looks at home on a Rolex.

My understanding is that the Merc star logo was designed specifically to include the 3 "spoke" elements as they represented something Typically Teutonic, whereas the star form used commonly in watch hands is just a useful pattern for holding lume and was a development from the earlier "tulip" or "cathedral" form.

Rolex seem to have been the first to use the simplified tulip, but as it was a simple progression from existing and well known patterns they could not - or chose not to - enforce it as a trademark element and so it quickly entered in to common usage.

I don't particularly like it on any watch, but I like it better than the stupid logos and things grafted on to the back of seconds hands!

Agree, it was a dig at the criticism of the C900 SP, the Mercedes hands belong to Rolex and are 'lent' to other brands.

I was just sipping a cup of tea while sneaking a few minutes on here and ended up spluttering tea all over the keyboard. That really made me chuckle, Steve. It is pretty much what I was thinking.

Interesting, I hadn't thought about the lume issue. It's just I don't like seeing them on watches other than Rolex. Too much of a copy.

Not all Rolex models have Mercedes hands. The British Military requested sword hands for their models.

As Cirrus pointed out it was an evolution from the cathedral style hands designed to be be more art deco but hold the tritium for the smaller hand.

Good. I like to keep you entertained, David. It's a matter of indifference as I don't see a watch with those hands entering my collection.
