This mysterious watch makes me proud to be Russian :)

Post by v8power »

Some times history can be rolled back. In Soviet times Russia has great watch factories, but almost all of them was ruined in nineties. It's about few to none of serious watchmakers here. But this man makes me happy: new wave of real watchmakers coming with very innovative and very own view to modern watches. Just look at this watch! Author is Kostya Chaikin. The watchmaker. Real one.

My grandma had a mantle clock that did that trick... took me years to work out how it was done ;)

superb looking watch I believe they use transparent sapphire crystals that have the hands mounted on them and then these are powered from the movement Konstantin chaykin is a very talented craftsman the movement is in house but they are not the only watch company that produce these cartier also make them they are called cartier rotonde mystery and they use a cartier 9981mc movement they also work on the same principle I think they are excellent and unique looking and very expensive the cartier costing considerably more !

I like that a lot.

This is the first time I have seen this done on a mechanical.

Reminds me of Quinting Watches, but I think Quinting are quartz movements.

That is a beautiful watch. I have always wanted to add a russian watch to my collection but, as v8power states, I know that the 90s completely changed Russian watches.

Some very clever and attractive watches in the link, thanks for sharing. Not so sure about a see through dial though. I would always be catching a glimpse of the white bit on my wrist, achieved through years of wearing a watch in the sun. Not very attractive.
