I went to an F1 summer test at Silverstone a few years back, when the track still had the Abbey chicane and Bridge corner.

The two great things about it were the lack of crowds and the enjoyment of listening to a single car as it circulated the track, with the rise / fall of the engine note piercing the air and allowing me to tell exactly where on the track it was.

Disappointed too that I couldn't go to the Maggots / Becketts complex as, to watch an F1 car approach head on and flick right / left / right, is absolutely awesome.
