Gift for the guy for engagement?

Post by lanari31 »

I need some opinion and sharing of personal experiences. Once you get a girl an engagement ring, is proper etiquette for her to get the guy a gift in return? Say, a watch? Or is that selfish to expect that? Help me out here guys!! I want a c11!!!

My Gal got me a watch when we got engaged, a few other guys on here have also experienced the same, it may become the norm in this world of equality ( a good angle to go with ;)).

You can't exactly view watches when u view the rings buying from CW so print off a screen shot of the C11 info from the site and leave it somewhere obvious. Good luck :D
I miss all the great things that may never be.

I admit to being far to many years away from this type situation, so I am not up on proper etiquette.......but it sounds like a good and proper thing to do. 8)

Worked the opposite way around for me.

I brought her a watch, and she brought me a Pen!!!

Probably to do with my inability to write in legible English.

Showing what a acring and thoughtful person you are...get the watch to "save her from wondering which one to get you"!

I think its only right you should have a new watch its certainly the proper etiquette today I know loads of men who have received watches in return for engagement rings after all a watch is a very masculine piece of jewellery and what better than a c11

I bought her a diamond necklace for her to wear on the wedding day. She bought me a watch. Sounds fair I'd say

My now wife bought me a Tag Aquaracer auto when we got engaged, and a mate of mine got an Omega Seamaster from his, so it does seem to be the trend at the moment. Didn't expect it, but can't say I was complaining!

When I got engaged 36 years ago it wasn't the tradition to do gifts for the guy. But my wife - now married to me for 35 years - bought me a pair of golf shoes. They finally went the way of all flesh when I gave up the game about 20 years ago. On our 30th anniversary I had her engagement ring made into an eternity ring - at her request. I must be due a real cracker of a watch for our 40th - five years of hints coming up.
