A couple of hours later the second hand started moving in three second bursts and soon after it ticked away as though nothing had happened. Now it sits there, just waiting to be used as a reference piece for the mechanicals. Every now and then I put it on a amaze myself that I wore such teeny pieces!
I had the exact same experience. Not sure about the years, probably 4 or 5, but the description of its behavior is spot-on.
