Horology Books

Post by Kip »

Anyone have any books about watches or clocks they can recommend. Historical, Instructional, fact finding ot just plain informative. What do you have? What do you know about that you haven't acquired yet?

Currently, I only have 2... The Complete Price Guide to Watches 2008
The Clock and Watch Trademark Index of European Origin

As a member of the NAWCC I do recieve a book, called the Bulletin, every other month that is loaded with current and historical Info.

I would recommend Pieter Doensen's 'History of The Modern Wristwatch' ...
If you go here http://www.xs4all.nl/~doensen/ for a quick read, you can order the book direct from the author. I did this myself.... didn't take long and he was very helpful.

You can see other reviews here http://70s-watches.com/n_to_z/pdbook.html and some sample pictures here http://www.watchismo.com/doensenbook.jpg

I can't remember exactly what i paid Pieter Doenson himself but it was definitely less than 70's-watches are charging!

Also, i am considering geting Gene Stone's 'The Watch'.
Hope That Helps.
If you can read this you are too close to your computer screen....
