Depends on the watch to an extent.

Is it valuable? Assuming it is:

If it's modern, I'd want box and papers.
If vintage, I'd prefer box and papers, though they're not always possible - so I'd want to know if it had been serviced.

I also like them to be original. And I like good condition, personally - I don't like scratches, etc, though of course some things can be replaced/repaired.

Can you tell us more about the watch?

Definitely need certificates, original receipt? Anything that will help prove it is what they say it is.
You'll pay a premium for these but you'll get peace of mind & it will help you sell it on... i.e more future proof.

Thankyou both.

I'll ask some questions and decide if I'm in or not and post the make and model up.

And trust your gut feeling. I have walked away from a few watches because it didnt feel right & never regretted it.
