Sorry scooter, doesn't do it for me but I think you are aware of my mild disliking of natos. I suppose I should actually try one one day and maybe I would overcome my predjudice. Maybe.
Does give it a different look though.

Yes Nathan, I know.
You don't like my Nato and I love your Portuguese.
Life's just not fair.

Fair enough I think it is high time I got a NATO to see what it is all about. I could get a black and red one for my black faced seamaster. What's say I get one and if I like it, I will donate the cost of the strap x3 to my preferred charity, Edwards Trust.

I actually like Nato straps, however I know that partcular coulored one is similar to the Bames Bond as worn by Sean Connery, but I doubt that much thought went into it back in the early 60's (the strap was even narrower than the watch lugs) rumour has it that Connery had to borrow the watch as he did'nt have one, can you imagine Omega letting that happen in a modern Bond film. I have yet to see a watch that looks good to me on that particular strap.
I do think your C5 aviator would look good on a either a plain black/grey or a black and grey striped Nato

Thanks for your input alphajet.
You're right about the incorrect width of JB's Nato but I wasn't aware he had to borrow the Sub.
My experience with the strap has led me to think that it will not be the last of my Nato purchases.

Sorry for the newbie question. How hard is it to swap the straps on the c5? I'm debating between this model and the c9. I like the leather and bracelet straps. Thanks

Really should be a different thread and in fact Kip has just answered a question like this on another thread. Search is good.th3bom wrote:Sorry for the newbie question. With the latest CWL leather straps they have the quick change feature which is brilliant and means you can change straps in seconds without any tools.
In this picture you can see a little metal circle near the end of the strap. Just pull it along and the spring bar is compressed and you take it out. Put one end of the spring bar on the new strap in the lug hole and compress the spring bar again to put the second part of the bar in the other hole and you are done. In fact it takes longer to explain it than do it. NATO's are even easier to exchange. Bracelets are harder and you need a proper spring bar tool (Bergeon Fine Tip) and a bit of practice. But once you know what you are doing it gets easier.
