It's a tegimented, Ar protected, 80,000 A/m magnetic protected, captive bezelled, 200m WR, 2892-A2 driven other watch!

Whats a captive bezel? :-k

keep saving....you know you want to!
Short version...

captive bezel

Outer bezel with a special design to prevent it from being lost.

Bezels are conventionally attached to the body of the case using a snap-in mechanism. If knocked, the ring can, in the worst case, become detached and the set time lost. Many our watches are therefore fitted with a safety system which overcomes this design weakness.

ianblyth wrote:The Sinn is nice but with that bezel it becomes a bit too much. It would be a distraction to go for the Sinn if you really want the Bremont. The thrill is in the chase. Having said that the Sinn should resell very easily.
The Sinn is also available without the bezel - in the shape of the 856..

or with UTC...

Trouble is... the Bremont is the price of two Sinn....

And the Sinn is price of two CWLs.
And the CWL is the price of two Seikos.
And the Seiko is the price of two Parnis.
And the Parnis is the price of two Lorus.
And the Lorus is the price of two cheap Casios.

The 856. That is better. Just needs a bracelet.

2 very nice watches. I guess there's no wrong answer. I agree with others who state the Bremont is over-priced, though I do like the look of them.

Being the impatient sort, I'd probably be in the "Sinn-now" camp.

Bremont all the way. Not even sure what all the fuss about Sinn watches is to be honest. I see lots of posts about Sinn and how wonderful they are but to me they just look plain and a bit boring

The Bremont is a wondeful, iconic beauty. Just no contest.

I did indeed have a bit of rethink, and sold a few, based on getting rid of those I wore the least. In the end my thoughts can easily be summed up, and scooter does it very nicely...

I have decided I am not a collector for the sake of collecting, and therefore, I don't need, and furthermore, cannot make use of dozens of watches. Equally, I don't want to create a massive maintenance overhead by having a bunch of watches demanding services.

So, a few watches that really satisfy me on one level or another is where I am heading. Ultimately, I would aim to have around 12 or so.

Of my current collection, I have four that are definite keepers, a few probables and several candidates for the next clear out.
This post made me think a lot! So we both only have you and Scooter to thank

Now if the choice had been between the Bremont and Richards Sinn, the answer would have been different. :D

Yep, it's always good to be reminded of the direction. For sure, the Sinn is something of a compromise compared with the Bremont. So, I will continue to save, and try to avoid spending the fund.

I am lucky enough to own both a Bremont MB II

and a 856

I like both watches but I love and wear the Bremont much more often, it's steel is harder, more interesting to look at and has a better anti-reflective coating. Lends it's to many strap options (but not bracelet!). The quality is top drawer, service is excellent and you can negotiate discounts off RRP.

I recommend staying the course for the Bremont because I think you would regret not getting one as you have been after one for so long and plus you already have a Sinn in the collection which is much nicer than the 856 IMHO.

Paul

PS the 856 UTC is now £1300+ on bracelet mine was well under £800 when I brought it new
