I encourage you to read....

Post by Leo David »

I'm giving a plug to an article presented by our forum technical genius. It is currently buried in the depths of the watchmaking thread at the bottom of the forum board and frankly it deserves to be seen by everyone with an interest in watches.
Look here http://christopherwardforum.com/viewtop ... 33&t=10816 and enjoy!

As usual, an excellent, informative and concise account. Well worth two or even three reads let alone one

No pun intended?

Amazing bit of d.i.y. kit, very Heath Robinson but in a good way. Just don't start messing with lasers!

I never understood how water leak testing was done. Now I do. Thanks. I thought you had to destroy a watch in order to prove it had failed a leak test.

Looks and sounds amazing, like all your machinery! I just wish my poor non-technical brain understood a tenth of the science involved!

Not sure I would trust my own home made rig but I do have a place that can do this test with real equipment and the charge is reasonable. I was always reluctant because I didn't understand how such a test was possible and afraid something would go horribly wrong. Very reassuring. This is the kind of stuff I like having posted on the forum. Super great info!

Must admit, I always wondered how it was done, Sir28800 does explain things in a way the average cretin (me) can understand.

I'm obviously a below-average cretin then :(

You, a man of your obvious intelligence and wisdom (see what I did there  )? I know you're joking  Sir explains things sooooo well.

Nope, not joking! You're talking to the guy who failed O-level Physics (compulsory subject, FFS! )

As soon as anyone starts mentioning valves, tools and pressures my brain dries up! :problem:

Must admit that anything mechanical is a great love of mine, but mention electrics and my brain shrivels! It may as well be magic string for all the sense it makes. Oh I get the "physics" bit (passed mine 8) ) but application and my brain goes on a cruise.
