Re: new favourite
I'm sorry for your loss.
A watch can seem like just a lump of metal unless it has a special meaning. A watch with memories attached is something very special! Thanks for sharing this post.
That Seiko is a nice piece and will never go out of style.

Re: new favourite
I also am sorry to hear of your sad loss. I wear my GrandFathers old "Sully" that he wore when I was a child (lived with my Grandparents for my best, childhood, years) and though I just had it serviced I left it with the ash burns (he was a heavy smoker and had a taboconists shop) on the crystal. Every time I look at it, I think of both of my GrandParents with real affection.
I'm sure you will wear it and remember him fondly.

Re: new favourite
And i add my deepest sympathies to those already expressed. keep the watch close. I've got my dad's seiko automatic complete with cracked crystal. I wouldn't part with it and you won't part with yours.

Re: new favourite
Are you going to buff it up / replace the crystal or leave it as it is?

I want to get it cleaned - the inside of the strap is pretty mucky. I'm not sure what I will do with the crystal.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote:Are you going to buff it up / replace the crystal or leave it as it is?
Kip, thanks for pointing that out - a very big transformation!

Just a thought seiko hardlex should be easily sourced by any decent watch repairer so MR J has informed me that's if you wanted to take the character away.MR J is not sure if polywatch would remove the scuffs as well as it does on acrylic.
