Mesh band for C5 malvern auto

Post by Forever »

Hello everyone!
I'm pretty interested in CW C5 malvern auto and I wonder if anyone try to put it on mesh band?
I presume it will be very nice portofino look-like watch.
Is it possible to change band to I'd say staib mesh http://www.ebay.com/itm/STAIB-3-2-3-5-m ... 720wt_1392 ?
I have doubts because of a little nail on the spring bars of C5 http://uhrforum.de/attachments/43723d12 ... ny5130.jpg

Don't worry about the appearance of the springbars in that photo- it shows quickchange springbars which are really easy to remove and the watch can then take a mesh (or any other strap for that matter) using standard springbars (often supplied with the new strap).
I quite like mesh and am wearing one at the minute with my Seiko "five fathoms", but I haven't seen a picture of a C5 with mesh.

The mesh band will fit with no problem. You will need some 18mm spring-bars as an additional component (unless they are supplied with the mesh band). This is because the spring-bars on the CW strap are part of the strap - to allow easy strap removal/refitting.

Thanks!
By the way, what is the full watch size between lugs?
My wrist is 17,5 cm, which mesh should I take? 130, 150 mm length? Of course It is adjustable, but I don't want to make a mistake not having a chance to try it on before ordering.

If you are a bit unsure about the mesh look can I suggest goodcheapman and seikoprince on eBay as possible downmarket alternatives to that $150 Staib.

IN MHO, the C5 looks best with a tan alligator strap. Any strap. It's just that kind of watch to me.
