That is a stunner! A "Cocktail Time"?

This was my old Seiko beater (6139 8020)

yep, that's the one. Most 'beautiful' watch I own!

though a bugger to photograph! (now residing on a Hirsch lizard strap just to complete the 'cocktail' look!)

I really like that Seiko, looking for a daily work watch and it would fit the job perfectly :D C3 may look classier in the flesh but cant say for sure, this is purely based on pics Any idea on the size of the Seiko's face?

 I would say one of the elegant and beautiful watches out there.

Like the Cocktail Lounge Lizard concept.

Do you think maybe the Seiko with an additional double button aviator strap instead of the C3 for Tyke?

That is a beauty Highway62, but also at a different price point to the seiko quartz chrono.

oh, definitely, would not for a second suggest it as an alternative to the original two watches that the question was about. :D

Like them both, being a tight fisted pensioner, I would probably get the Seiko!

The Seiko is about 40mm & was found on amazon for £118. The answer to my dilemma in reality was/is blindingly obvious (now one kind soul pointed it out to me) and that is to get a used C3 for much closer to the price of the Seiko. So that's what I've managed to do

It won't be a daily beater as my C6 takes that punishment duty, but it will see a fair amount of use at other times as they are too lovely to leave hidden away. I'm still going to have a look in EJ's at the Seiko which could always be a future beater if I really take to the C3's style.

The used C3 sounds like the perfect solution. I was going to say that I couldn't comment on the price difference as i picked up my C3 NN for closer to the price of the Seiko. The C3 is simply a classier watch. Applied numbers and indices, cleaner face, and the oh-so-fantastic two-level dial. Not to mention the lumed chrono hands, a relatively uncommon feature.

If you want a dressy chronograph, the C3 wins hands down.

The Seiko's dial has a much more functional, tool-ish look to it.

for me C3 over Seiko for these reasons:

i) Suit and Jeans (can't imagine that Seiko with suit)
ii) Alignment of the registers
iii) Spinning second hand for the first 60s at the start of the stop watch
iv) The bling bling numbers
v) CWL's after sales service (though you might be considering 2nd hand)

I presume the Seiko hasn't a sapphire crystal?

The Seiko for me, dare I say the dial looks "warmer" and more classical, and I'm not keen on the date being at 4 o'clock, a £100 saved could go towards another watch :D
