CWL discovery survey

Post by Kip »

A bit of a curiosity survey.......

When you first found CWL and the forum, which did you discover first?

I would also be interested in hearing if you were you led from the CWL website to "The Asylum" or from "The "Asylum" to CWL.

I will let this run through the weekend. Just looking for an idea.

Thanks.
Kip

It was from a brochure posted to me. I don't know why it was sent as I don't recall signing up to get one. But that got me interested in the C40 with the Valjoux 775. They were giving away a free winder worth £75 at the time. Once there I found the forum. Until then I had no idea there were forums for watches.

Like Ian I got a brochure, not sure why. I loved the look of the C1 with brown dial. At the time I wanted an automatic so didn't make a purchase. Several months later was looking through the net via google for a specific look. Up popped a picture of the 2009 fle. so considered joined the forum to buy one. Around the same time I kept looking at the black dialed C8 MKI and it came up NN so purchsed both around the same time.

I heard a programme on BBC with Christopher Ward and the legendary Mr. Daniels. This lead me to the web site. Can't remember how I found the forum.

I didnt vote because my option isnt there...Il give you the precise moment though...on the central line (tube) commuting home from work I saw an article in either a newspaper or a magazine listing the Trident watch...it must of been 2 years back at least. I made a mental note of the brand then went online to check out the watches...the C20 Lido caught my eye though I think it was an LE model ,phoned from work a few days later to order one but none left :(
anyway thats how I found CW initially then forgot about them untill I accidently stumbled across the website when I was actually searching for something else...the power of google!

I saw a CW on another forum. Searched for the website and later found the forum. The rest, as they say, is history. :D

Bought a winder from a chap in 2007, who commented that i must have surely heard of CW. I hadnt, but went home and to the website.... Only discovered the forum much more recently and wish i had known about it sooner, but that might have been even more costly?!

I had just started collecting and was looking at other fora, some of which recommended CWL and the forum. I browsed the CW Forum and then ordered ordered my first (a C8 MkI)... When it arrived I joined the Asylum, immediately ordered two more watches and the rest, as they say, is history.

I googled English watches about 4 years ago, and I'm still here, just not as much time to read and follow the posts these days, still visit most days tho. 8)
