Only slightly relevant, but I see a lot of you change straps all the time. I have never attempted this - is it easy? I'd worry about damaging a watch, I'm so ham-fisted and utterly impractical! :(

It is pretty easy with the right tools. Leather straps are easiest (in my view). Rubbers are generally ok (settle down at the back), and bracelets can be a bit more of a fiddly job. As with everything else, it gets easier with practice.

Best to practice on a cheapo watch. :)

Definitely use a nice tool - the Bergeon 6767F (the fine one). It's worth the £12 or so it costs as those ones that are a few pounds are too big and clumsy.

Also, some good advice is to stick some masking tape around the lugs to prevent scratching if you do slip.

Thank you, gents.
I just found a youtube video...it doesn't look too hard, but I'll definitely take the advice, especially about not starting with a "good" watch!

If you can't get the Bergeon I can recommend one that watchgecko do on eBay.
It comes with a small prong end ideal for metal bracelets (they need smaller bit) and the other end a pin for bracelet links. Both ends covered with screw caps.

Found one listed click here.
IIRC they include them in the auction/buy now for the 2 watch carry case they sell as well.

Thanks again!
The fact that I became a "GURU" today makes me laugh...I have so much to learn, and I'm always impressed with the way you guys answer questions you must have heard so many times! :D
Still, as this hobby seems to be developing into an obsession, I'd better learn a few basic tricks!
