Zodiac sea wolf on worn & wound

Post by gwells »

Many of you know I have a sea wolf that I wear regularly. Nice review on W&W. And mention of a reissue in 2015. 39mm vs the original 35mm.

This was more a candidate for abtw's watches to remake than was featured on the list, everytime I see that seawolf on the ncwotd I'm captured by it however with a new WR of 100m perhaps it should be named the river wolf.
I miss all the great things that may never be.

Shame about the WR of the re-issue, but I probably wont be able to say no to that, unless it is anything less than a faithful reproduction of the original (39mm is ok)

Just hope they dont add some modern Zodiac twist into it, that will be aweful.

Is that yours, kip? Love how the dial patina and the worn bezel turn that into a quite unique sea wolf.

Greg's Zodiac made me go watch some on ebay... Most I've seen sell above $400usd, which is almost Omega money. Seems like a good idea to make the re-issue and I look forward to seeing it in 2015. It is a unique style.

I watched carefully on eBay for a good deal. Took time. I paid $165 for mine, knowing I needed service and refurbishing. $230 covered service, new crystal, NOS crown, new hands. And some general cleaning. So $400ish for a serviced watch with new crystal/crown/hands.

I'm happy to recommend a guy to service that has access to a lot of old zodiac parts, unlike most watch guys. He's kind of a go to guy for zodiac.

sure.

when i got it:

now:

other than the hands and some crystal scratches, it's hard to see a lot of difference. but i decided against him replating the bezel, since i liked the character.

The character (and it has some real character) has been retained nicely :D
