Rick, it's easy. I went on to ebay USA and found loads of 5's. So I bought some of them. Well I ment to buy one but my finger slipped. So now I have three, just waiting for the last on to arrive. Funny how this watch liking game gets you.

Be careful on Ebay....it can be very addictive! It only hurts when the bill come due.

Yea Bill,

I've yet to post my rat pics as well, even though you've seen them. When Rick finally get's one this forum will be overrun with rats.

The site photo of this one doesn't do it justice; it's the palest of pale iridescent blue. When I find a strap that fits and does it justice, I'll post the photos...UB

Just thought that I would update this 5 thread.

There are 3 versions of movement to the 5's. Most of the 5's are prefixed SNK......
The first on has 17 jewels but I can't remember the movement number but 1007 rings a bell. The crown is at 4 o/c. Next are the two well known ones with 21 and 23 jewels, crowns at 4o/c and 3o/c repectively.

There are two versions of the day/date most at 3o/c but one with the day at 6 o/c on the inside of the dial. This one is termed 'Presidential' although I have found several versions called that.

I've just got a nice blue strap. from thestrapshop, I'll post another photo in the 'straps' post in Offtopic..UB
(The watch is a difficult colour to photograph accurately but for those old enough to remember, there used to be a popular metallic car colour called 'ice blue' which is about the right description, makes me feel pretty...)

Bill,

If you can, try using a polarizing filter over the lens to bring out the blue and to remove unwanted reflections from the crystal.

Yoda,

I saw a Seiko 5 with the crown at the 3 O:Clock position and from the back it showed the movement to be 7S26B. What do you think about that? I thought it should be a 7S36. Confused again. Kip, more shock treatments! :?

Your very good at this strap selecting Bill, goes very well together although i would have to fit a deployment clasp to save wear.
