Looking forward to the pics and impressions Steve. I hope it works out as well long term; it's a lovely looking watch, but one that not too many people can pull off.
I could have imagined Terry Pratchett wearing one, but he probably would've scoffed at the idea... That's a compliment by the way Steve!
Quite interested by this, Gary. You are not the first person to mention "pulling this watch off". I think the expression is being used in the context of it being difficult to wear from an image point of view. I must say this has never worried me – I wear what I like provided I fulfil dress codes when I have to, though I do like my watch to blend in with what I wear...e.g. unlikely to wear black strap and brown shoes. The only watches I have difficulty wearing are ones that I find too big or don't like the look of, which is why I gravitate to vintage and dress watches even for casual wear. Whilst this one won't be used for yomping and camping it will go just as well with chinos and a nice shirt as with a suit.

Steve, I have just caught up with the whole thread and thoroughly enjoyed reading through everyone's contributions and comments. I think it's wonderful that you have bought a watch that most of us on here did not see coming, but has clearly turned your head and it's great for the forum to have something different to view and read about.
It's a bold decision on your part and I congratulate on making it. I look forward to seeing photos and reading your impressions of the watch once you've had it a while. By the way, I know it's after the decision has been made, but I too think it looks far better on black leather.
Thank you, David – I appreciate your thoughts. A bold decision perhaps, but once I had managed to convince myself that the watch I was looking at for so long was perhaps a little worrying in terms of budget and the fact that I wouldn't be able to read it that well anyway, the decision was in fact quite an easy one.

No one's mentioned the name! TANK. First made in 1917, designed and and named after the mechanical beasts that finally started to change the tide of war. One of the longest (if not the longest) watch models produced, an absolute design classic on level pegging with the much more recent Speedmaster and Daytona. The design will be 100 years old soon.
