I really like the look of that and it does have the Seastar look about it. It's rather nice and what's there not to like for a tenner?! Good find and I like the idea of a cheapy challenge. It's something that everyone on here can participate in.

Christian has 3 of mine in the queue at the minute; my BellMatic with (hopefully) just a worn or loose cannon pinion (apparently the OldSkool method of fixing these is to insert a hair, but I don't have any left), a Buler Dive watch for service and hand lume (cost me near to nothing) and an antique pocket watch that may or may not be beyond repair... although I am hopeful as I managed to find 3 very similar dials and one similar movement ;)

I agree, I would very much enjoy it if people were willing. We didn't do one this year I don't recall? Although the year before we had various accuracy challenges, all carried out in good spirits.

Could perhaps be based around a top gear style points system, I.e with a 30 pound limit you start with 0 points and for every pound you spend over 0 (freebies or friend buys not allowed however) you get points added (also points added for bad condition etc?) And the person with the least points wins. Other minor winning catagories for best looking etc.
I miss all the great things that may never be.

He's done one for me already, just a quartz chrono movement replacement, if it wasn't a chrono I would have done it myself but the hands are way too fiddly for me. He had to relume the main hands after the old lume broke off whilst he was working on it, its not a perfect colour match but they actually give some lume now so I'm fairly happy with the result. Pics of that soon once the right strap getss delivered. Thought about sending my Belllmatic but again not enough wrong with it to warrant it at the moment (tempting fate but previous seller said it was serviced prior to sale - question of trust really)

2 Fivers ???

No really, I like your £10 bargain.
The strap, in particular. It's likeable to a Seiko Razor style which I've been on the lookout for, for some time now but I'm hearing they're outta circulation for now at least.

The challenge sounds an interesting one - pity I have no cheapies left, having sold them all and not really intending to buy any more...but you never know!

You could be persuaded to part with a maximum of £30 for an interesting cause, Steve. I'm not sure you could resist. The thrill is in the searching...
