Watches with a full set of Arabic numerals

Post by welshlad »

I was quite surprised recently to realise that I only own one watch which displays a full set of Arabic numbers from 1-12; this little thing:

2023-02-26 17.04.03-1.jpg

And even that has lots of extra leading zeros.

I have a couple of other watches that nearly have a full set, but have one number missing:

2021-11-10 12.22.18.jpg
2013-09-14 17.14.29.jpg

What watches do you have with a full set 1-12 of Arabic numbers?

And which are the nicest examples currently available (new or used)?

I’ve currently got one, although technically it’s probably only 11.5 numerals

I’ve previously owned others, including two that went up to 24!

I could definitely see myself buying another Hamilton Khaki, which would be my fourth :?

Just the one. The others are missing a number, or part thereof, for seconds or date. No full Roman dial either, for the same reason. I had to look, though – your mind tells you it’s there but it isn’t.

@timor54 The Oris is so close to a full set. I like the Hamiltons that go up to 24 - they offer twice the value!

You're right there, Steve. I could have sworn my C3 had a full set until I took a look and realised the 4 was missing (for the date).

I'd be particularly interested in seeing examples with applied numerals.

@Bahnstormer_vRS Nice collection, Guy. I think your C5 BoB should be in the "Minus One" club. And even the C9 Chrono has its 12 and 6 partially munched. :)

My only candidates are the Hamilton pocket watches.

Do the minutes get extra credit?
I swear if you look closely the dial appears to be hand painted.

And these two.

C9 Chrono; they're only a tiny bit munched.

I'll raise you my full set Redux HONNR in compensation.

When my friend's daughter was learning to read the time at school I showed her my watch but she said it wasn't a 'proper' watch because proper watches had numbers, and you can't tell the time without numbers...
I've been looking several times at the sandhurst recently in order to 'get more numbers', but I do think that a watch with a full 1-12 is a very cool and fundamental thing.

This is my minus 1, and it's in the sale cupboard so doesn't even get a chance to show off the proper numbers it does have.,.
