Watch for £200
Re: Watch for £200
I know, but they are not the same. I just prefer the classic 'tool' Seiko Diver design... Wasn't broken, didn't need changing.
It was done to make 'em appeal to a younger generation than I…
Moan, moan, moan. Mumble, mumble.
And, proof if any were needed, the chap who started this thread seems more than happy with the original design...

Re: Watch for £200
I wear a C7 as my everyday watch and it gets some glances and decent comments every now and again. It also looks expensive which the ladies like A friend who loves his Rolex has even said he is tempted to get one as it looks so much more expensive than wha it is.
I dont think it is too good for everyday wear, in fact I think it is perfect for it. Looks good, wears well, still not got a scratch on the glass. All good. Now if they only CWL would make an auto version I would be all over it.

I know that you are zeroing in on the Seiko divers, but, at this late stage, I'd like to throw something different into the mix.- I have three Makos - love them
£80 to £120 depending on colour and location.
I got the pepsi and yellow from USA, black from Singapore, all on eBay, but they are available from "proper" shops too. There is also an all-blue and an orange. Orient used to be the #3 seller in Japan till quartz came along and Casio came from nowhere. Orient stuck with autos, stayed afloat and just recently became 100% owned by Seiko.
Movement is auto, Orient in-house, equiv. to Seiko 7s26; no hack, no wind, day/date. 200m w/r.
Mine all run within 10 sec/day.
Google search on ...
Orient CEM65001 or Orient Mako

Re: Watch for £200
I've been convinced, at the moment, to keep my C7, but may well end up getting a beater, so this thread isnt dead .. I'm looking around £90.. I like the look of the prs-10 and also still the seiko divers.. however i've just come across GETAT watches, they look lovely watches for the price (i appreciate they are all homages to other watches) does anybody have any experience with any of them?
EDIT- most of the GETAT watches are both too big for my wrists (mine are 16cm), and manual wind, which just scares me... so if i decide on a beater it looks like a seiko (not a 007, too much moneys) or a prs-10

Re: Watch for £200
Never heard of these before, they are VERY cheap...possibly too cheap if you get my meaning!
Nothing to be scared of with regards to handwinds, just turn the crown until it stops to give full power, you can either wind every day as I do, or, wind just when you are about to wear the watch..

Not the word I would have used, but understand if you were being 'polite'

As no-one has said it - what about a Parnis? Great quality for less that £55. Although most are large and are in the 43mm plus range. But there are some other great homage wathes on eBay that go for less than £20 and are very good for the money. And as they emulate a certain well known brand leader they adopt that smaller style of 36/38/40mm. I have some that make great everyday watches. And they were all under £20 inc p+p from Hong Kong. And they are automatics.

Re: Watch for £200
parnis have some very nice, and interesting looking watches, however they're very big.. and as said i have a small wrist, so i think they would look very out of place... Also i may well end up looking away from automatics completely- they tend to be very deep (or atleast the cheap ones do) and i think would look very out of place with my wrist..
