Mine started at about age 13 living in Hong Kong where my parents bought me a Seiko Sports 100

I was dead proud of that watch and never took it off, sailing, snorkeling, swimming.....sadly lost it outside a night club in Portsmouth when a couple of blokes decided to use me as a football cause I took exception to them touching up my girlfriend at the time....(If I am honest now I wish they had carried on, (touching her up that it) and then I'd still have my watch

I then whilst digging a GPMG Fire Trench on Woodbury common found a gold wedding ring, and fob watch.....they were in the middle of a military training area about 2 foot down. I cleaned up the watch by tipping water bottle over it, and left it to dry out.....unbelievably after a couple of days i wound it and it started running !....I had a friend in the jewellery business who had it properly repaired and cleaned, and still have it, but I would be fascinated to know how both items found their way there.....as we dug down we expected to find a body.........

I replaced it with a Seiko Sports 150 crono....which let me down and filled up with water 3 days after the warranty ran out.....I fell out big time with Seiko over that they refused to fix it without wanting to charge me about £100....a shed load of money back in 1990

I then replaced it with a cheapo £25 Lorus, and lost interest for a while

I then last year received some money from the death of my grandparents, and thought I'd like to remember them with a nice watch, After many many hours on the web looking for a watch between 200/300 quid found the CW site, and fell in love with the C5, and eventually bought one, then saw a lovely C1....and bought that, then decided to get my old Seiko repaired......after it had been lying on a window sill in the kitchen for billy burglar to help himself should we have been unlucky enough to be screwed......

Then i saw the damned "Grrrr it's a monster" thread, and now have an Orange monster.......

My son and daughter have a generous God mother, who on a trip to the states bought them back a Mickey Mouse watch each, the kids think they are "too old for them now".....so i have managed to almost persuade then to let me "look after them"....they are great with a picture of "Mickey" using his arms/hands to show the time, they have a lovely "Disney" box, and I promise to "look" after them

It's totally sad and mad, and after the "Enicar" watch I bought off the bay, along with an old Omega sea master if I buy another watch I'm sure my wife will rip my *alls off!
