Mine will always be the Urwerk 202 in black with lime green accents. Surprisingly there's one for sale at the moment but it would require selling my house so I'm resigned to never owning one.

Greetings,

Lottery or rob a bank?
 Yes, I should buy more lottery tickets though there are other things to do with the winnings first - wearing my grail to the same crappy job I'm currently stuck in would not be very satisfying!

Not sure at the moment what my grail is. Happy :) with my collection at the moment, just need to move on a few on i don't wear enough then will re evaluate.
On a money no object would be the 38mm resilience in steel. If I sell the house and live in a box I might be able to manage it :D Image

Thought long and hard about buying a green-bezelled Rolex Sub around 10 years ago. (Wish I'd bought it!) In the last 5 years I've nearly bought a Seamaster Pro several times.

Others over the last few years that I've almost bought, and still might (most of these I've gone back to buy after prevaricating, only to find that I'd missed out)...

The Navitimer is just a touch on the large size for me. Adore the look, though.

The Colt is also a tad large for me. Love the dial though.

A smidgen small. But a lovely, classy look.

I like them a lot. Which is probably not enough.
If you like the navitimer but not the size then you should find the montbrillant version more to your liking. Essentially the same layout and styling but sizes of 38 or 40 mm. (The latest are 40). Good used ones can be had at very tempting money.

In price order (and allowing for price softness against retail):

Omega Moonwatch (cal 1861)
Tudor Pelagos
Rolex SD - can't decide if it's the 4000 or the 43 I want (need to try both)
Rolex YM1 steel with blue dial
ALS GRAND LANGE 1 MOON PHASE “LUMEN”
VC TRADITIONNELLE 2755 in platinum ($700k!)

Currently investigating selling a kidney for which I can next acquire. Not sure how many other people's kidneys I would have to sell to buy the VC but I guess would definitely need to be body part trafficking on a major scale. Anyone for a timeshare?

Cheers Stefs. I've considered them, but prefer the more traditional Navitimer look. There is the "Navitimer 92" (I think) that is 38mm. Not many around, though.

I've had many 'grails' over the years, and most have worn off. Right now I'm quite contented with what I have, but of course there are some I would absolutely love to own. Here is one:

It may be over-styled but I really like the integration of bracelet and case, and I know the quality would be great.

Maybe one day I will sell all the pretenders...
Good choice – the Vacheron Constantin Overseas is an astonishing watch.

Whatever you do, don’t watch this video, as it’s far too tempting: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ErODqXrSw ... e=youtu.be

If I were ever disciplined enough to settle on the perfect ‘one watch only’ solution, it would be a new VC Overseas.

It’s such a distinct & coherent design all of its own, and very versatile. In keeping with the spirit of the thread, I’ve never handled one, but have read & watched enough to attest to its quality.

It's a bit of an 'in-between' watch - neither 100% dress nor pure sports, but competent enough at both in everyday life usage so as to be a perfect 'one watch' all-rounder that looks classy but is robust enough to need no babying.

With the VC pedigree, Geneva Seal, exhibition case-back, beautifully finished movement, slim profile, 22 carat gold rotor and that phenomenal bracelet - which is simultaneously both highly-functional and a work of art in its own right - there's really an awful lot to like.

Chuck in all the ‘real-world’ convenience of a no-tools micro-adjust clasp, 60 hour power reserve, decent lume, 150m water resistance & anti-magnetic features, and it’s a piece with extremely few weak points (aside from the possible depreciation & service costs, of course).

The chronograph version also has VC’s first in-house automatic chronograph movement, featuring a column wheel & vertical clutch.

The bonus of the included extra rubber & alligator novel quick-change straps means you would almost have three watches instead of one.

The only negative is the lack of hacking function, but I could live with that!

^^^ Just watched the video. The "want" level just increased about 10-fold!

One of these days I will get to see and handle this watch and it will be interesting to see if it lives up to my massively high expectations of it.

Thanks for the comments and video - very interesting.

Case size is about 2-3mm too big for me unfortunately.

I guess it may also be a bit large for me too.

Otherwise, the equation is...

Rolex YM + IWC Ingy + 2 x AT = VC Overseas.

It would need to be a hell of a watch.

^^^ Indeed. Even writing the equation made me realise the madness of such an idea. I can't imagine ever committing to it.

But I would definitely like to try one on for size - if ever the opportunity arises.
