Re: Tudor new releases
Not really the blue red colours of the Pepsi though... Slight difference... More the dark blue/ burgundy of their black bays
Somewhere there is someone who can see what I can see...
Re: Tudor new releases
^^^ Indeed.
Back in the day, I had a CW Trident Pepsi GMT - until someone asked me it if was a Rolex. Since then, I have tried to avoid anything where the homage-ness was too strong...

Re: Tudor new releases
Just as I thought I'd narrowed my next decent purchase choices down to 3 up pops this GMT, with a 'proper' jump hour hand and a date. Must try one on, its gorgeous. No funds yet, but this has to go on the list. I couldn't care less about the 'homage-ness' or what ever people want to call it, I like it

Agree, it could have been real winner and a future classic like the Pelagos.golfjunky wrote:Unfortunately you are rightdowner wrote:To be honest, I wish they had chosen something other than the Pepsi colours, to further differentiate this from the its Rolex inspiration. I don't buy this 'poor mans....'. Most people I know would love to be in a position to be able to pay Tudor money for a watch.downer wrote:To be honest, I wish they had chosen something other than the Pepsi colours, to further differentiate this from the its Rolex inspiration. Re: Tudor new releases
The Pepsi bezel is so linked to Rolex so any company releasing a red and blue bezel will be inviting comparisons.
Nice watch nonetheless

Re: Tudor new releases
Only by people who know their watches though. Stop 100 random 'normal' people in the street, show them the Tudor GMT and ask them what it reminds them of - my guess is that, apart from maybe 1 or 2, they won't have a clue apart from saying 'nice watch, I bet that costs a lot'.sproughton wrote:The Pepsi bezel is so linked to Rolex so any company releasing a red and blue bezel will be inviting comparisons.

Re: Tudor new releases
Yes but how would say ‘is it a Rolex?’
Current collection = Omega Seamaster 2225.80.00, Omega Speedmaster 'Moonphase' 3576.50.00, Breitling Aerospace Evo, Vintage Azur, Vintage Seiko Sprtsman, Grand Seiko SBGX059, Omega SMP NTTD 210.92.42.20.01.001, Casioak Milkyway, Casioak Tiffany Sky.
Re: Tudor new releases
I agree, but like it or not, Tudor is saddled with the “poor man’s Rolex” tag - and always has been. To me, they could have weakened that perception by avoiding the direct comparison caused by mimicking the Pepsi bezel. A green/black version would have created differentiation - and going by the popularity of the Harrod’s green LE, it would have been well received.TigerChris wrote:I don't buy this 'poor mans....'. Re: Tudor new releases
Anyone else get really excited about the "build you own" section? (only to find its not an actual custom build feature, just another way of showing you existing models. )
I don't buy the whole "poor mans Rolex", Rolex as a brand does absolutely nothing for me, there's not a single watch they make that I want and yet I love the Tudor BBR, Pelagos in Blue and Black, and the Pelagos LHD is my current grail watch.
Now if they did the Pelagos in 39/40mm, I'd be in real financial trouble.

^^
watching you fail in your quest for a “one watch” has been great entertainment
