In other words if you continue to have the watch serviced every three years, you will get the benefit of a three year Warranty on the Movement.

Guy
Seems a cleaner way to approach things by separating the two.
Warranty 3 years. Servicing then effectively extends the warranty.
Not the other way around where the lack of a service breaks and reduces the warranty.

If Tribus had the CW way of presenting it, I could imagine a 72 month warranty but with the servicing caveat. Why not even call it unlimited if they would be prepared to extend every 3 years with a service - Now that would be a seller, especially at 70% off!

My tribi arrived yesterday- the my dog sighs and tri-04.

The MDS was planned to be a bit of art/investment rather than a watch I will wear but the tri-04 was a bit of a gamble… here’s my thoughts:

The packaging made me laugh as someone had previously mentioned it being like something from eBay- I have to agree with this but it didn’t bother me. I like the way CW ship watches but I won’t pretend a bit of over wrapping bothers me- It was like a nice game of pass the parcel by myself.

The box is nice, I like the button and it looks nice but again, a watch box has to be outstanding or terrible for me to really care.

The watch itself (a fully stickered tri-04 orange on bracelet) is nice, the shape and overall feel is good quality but for me it looks cheap on the bracelet. It doesn’t feel cheap at all, but the bracelet makes it look like a mall/fashion watch in my opinion. I tried it on a rubber Barton strap I had which conveniently had a gun metal buckle and it looked much better. Even better still on the quick release leather strap from the MDS. The crowns worked fine and I liked the dial layout- but unfortunately I noticed a spec of dust/hair under the glass and so this will be going back.

I think I will be asking for a refund/return too as despite the watch being fine, my intention was to wear on the bracelet and I really don’t like the look.

So all in all, for those on the fence or who haven’t seen one in the metal- the quality is good, the finishing and proportions are good, dial and movement are also good but it’s a niche look. Credit for trying something different and not going down the sub homage route like so many other brands, but the gunmetal was a personal no-no in the end. With regards to pricing, as nice as it was I can’t see anything to justify the RRP but even at sale price they’re competing for my affections with Seiko, Halios and CW. Halios are annoyingly hard to get so I’m discounting them and Seiko I feel like I’ve “completed” having owned so many. The movement would have been the Tribus’ main selling point and while CW don’t offer anything too similar design wise but given a choice between the c63 sealander in green, Meistersinger Metris in blue or this Tribus (which are all going to get me £500-600 should I sell/return) I am least enamoured with the tri-04. Had it been stainless steel or titanium maybe it would be different.

^^^^ thanks for posting. The 04 is my pick of the lot and the orange looks good but overall I find the sub dials too obtrusive to buy.

I’ve had around 30 hours with my 04 (orange.) Impressive timekeeping well within limits and it really is growing on me. As it came on a brown leather vintage strap (only available at the time of purchase) I contacted Tribus via email this morning to see if I could purchase a rubber/hybrid or even better, the black leather with orange stitching which would really set it off.
ONE HOUR LATER I received a phone call from one of the Ward youngsters at Tribus who arranged the purchase there and then. We had a chat and for what it’s worth (I know some may be interested) Chris is doing well and ‘not mellowing with age like a fine wine!’ They are inundated with sales right now, as one may expect and are also busy working on a new product release for spring ‘22 which sounds very interesting. Chris and the clan all send their regards and best wishes for Xmas to all of the Forum guys…which I thought was very nice so I thought I’d let you all know.
Good watch, great customer experience and hopefully good times ahead for them. 👍

No unfortunately. They did have that facility but it isn’t currently in use as they are snowed under with watch sales right now. An email may work however.

Nice update and good to know they have new releases in the pipeline. Does make you wonder where revenue will come from in the downtime between fire sale stock depletion and the new range

Earlier on in the year they had straps with multiple thread colours, but they aren't doing those now. I acquired a lovely black with yellow stitching. I had ordered black/orange, but that was slow to come through so I took the yellow instead which was in stock.

I’m trying to track down a decent hybrid/sailcloth/leather strap as you’ve described. Tribus don’t do that black/orange piped stitching number which would work on the TRI-04 and CW don’t do a black/yellow hybrid for a newly purchased C60 Chronograph I’ve asked on the ‘Straps’ forum…any ideas would be appreciated as Barton/Stevo/Martu and even Watchgecko don’t really have anything comparable.

I know you said Watchgecko don’t have anything but I wear the 21mm version of this on my El Primero and it’s a fantastic strap. I’ve also owned the old version, 20mm orange stitching, without QR and can highly recommend

Its a bit late now, but WatchGecko just had lovely black zuludiver sailcloth strap with green stitching for just £4 in 20mm and 22mm. They seem to have gone now. Brilliant for £4.

it was this strap
ZULUDIVER Sailcloth Divers Watch Strap Green Stitching
SKU: ZUL-TFA-(S)FGTW-P268#5-QR-BK-GN-SSB-20

I think it's these which are £28 normal price, in colours other than green including orange and yellow. These were 120/80 with QR pins. A lot of their straps are smaller lengths.

I hope this helps.
