I think it follows the fact that they have a single standard 41mm dial. They seem to have subdials at 12 and 6 which are sometimes embossed shields. Other time they are functional, so small seconds, a power reserve, and this unusual GMT function. I imagine they could put a moon phase there as well. I suppose they then had to source movements that fitted within this case.

I like that the bezel on my tri-04 (which hasn’t arrived yet) has a 45min counter- so will become my go to football watch as I get to settle all the usual “how long to go” questions 😄

There is now a gazette notice from companies house for Tribus (Watchmakers) Ltd. to be compulsorily struck off the register of companies :-k

Edit: also on their website they’re now saying ‘screw convention, we’re having a Black Friday sale now’. I wonder who/what else they’re screwing…

…but Tribus (horologists) remain. It’s all a bit smoke and mirrors especially with the additional company set up

Maybe it is a redundant company, but you would have thought they would wind it up, rather than allow this notice to be published.
Hopefully things will be OK.

JAFO wrote: Mon Nov 08, 2021 6:28 pm The bracelet options are definitely a no-brainer in the 70% reduction offer.

The straps sell separately for £120, although I can't see any listed for sale at all now. They are good straps, but expensive at that price. I would say better than CW £60 straps, but not as good as CW £115 Cordovan straps.

The bracelets were £220 for steel, and £320 for colours.

On that basis the 70% reduction makes a steel bracelet only £30 more than the leather, and a gold or gunmetal only £60 more.
Don’t be suckered into the ‘discount off RRP’ trap.

I’ve heard some horror stories about their bracelets.

What have you heard about them, how do they compare to CW?

Well, companies sell.things for a profit.

Take a £1000 cosc certificated watch, and discount that to £300. You are probably around manufacturing cost now. Maybe there's still a gross profit, but at this price I doubt very much that there's a net profit after expenses.

I struggle too see what horror stories there can be about straps and bracelets, that fit adequately and appear to be made well.

Interesting conversations regarding TRIBUS and the current sale.

To me taking a punt and giving them a go seems a total no brainer. 14 day return policy and if you want to, up to 2 year 0% option so at the 70% off prices, they are next to noting a month so little risk to see what they are about.

Decided to order a TRI-01 in Teal and a TRI-04 in the black/red colour. Where else can you get these specs for the money they are now currently?

Really looking forward to them arriving and I’ll be sure to post some images and thoughts on them when they arrive.

This was my point of view- I’d just got a green dial CW Sealander auto which was going to be my sensible daily knockabout watch and I wasn’t planning to get any more

…but 70% off for a cosc watch at that price range led to me getting two. I missed out on the teal one so let me know if you don’t like it 😄

My understanding is that when they were full price, the general consensus was that they were very good but optimistically priced due to the lack of brand prestige/history. I hadn’t heard anyone complaining about the quality though, the movements are good and cases said to come from the same place that makes IWC. So I’m excited to see my tri-04 and aware that in a worst case scenario I can return, gift or sell it.

There’s a customer review about the bracelets somewhere. I’ll see if I can find it.

Exactly. At this price point it’s the biggest no brainer going!! I’ll be sure to let everyone know my thoughts on the 01 and 04. I’ve been wanting the Teal for a long time now. Can’t wait to get my hands on it! Just hoping it’s as stunning as the images look. And yes I’ve seen many happy customer posts. And I’m sure we can add to that list.....!

I’d rather order myself and then make my own mind up based on wether I personally like them or not. 1 review or opinion doesn’t mean it’s going to be bad for everyone. Being a big CW fan means I want these to be brilliant for Chris and the boys new venture 👍🏻

Agree with Simon - at this price, and with free returns, I felt they were worth a look. I’ve not been drawn to the TRI-01, 3, 4 or more, but quite liked the 2, though not enough to buy at or near full price. “Optimistically-priced” just about describes my feeling to a T. I’ll decide if I like it when it comes. Most reviews from people who have bought them are positive, and I guess I’ll find out.

If anyone has detail to support their negative (or positive!) assertions let’s hear it. An opinion isn’t useful without the rationale behind it.

I would hope the bracelets and straps are better than horrific, given what Chris must have learned during his years with CW, which offers excellent bracelets and very good straps, based on my experiences over the last 3 or so years.
