Tissot PRX #2 Ice-Blue Chameleon

Post by gaf1958 »

Quoting one's self is probably in the poorest of taste, but I've never had delusions of being above my lot in life, so why not? In my post a little while ago on the minty green PRX, I dropped a little easter egg, one that seems to have been too subtle. So, remedying that is this post that past me hinted that future me might do, but it's actually now present me, or maybe it's all now past me, certainly by the time you read this. Time paradoxes.... eh.
gaf1958 wrote: Thu Jan 30, 2025 11:36 pm I quite like the new gradient dials, particularly the lighter one, the black / blue is a bit too much black for me, whereas the light blue gradient looks good. Didn't end up getting one of those, although I would not put it past future me to do so.
You can probably assume that I quite liked the mint green PRX, because, as is true to form for me, I've bought a second one. The interesting thing with this second one, it that my wife actually likes this one, unlike the first one. Go figure... Anyway, it matters not, as I mentioned, her like or dislike of a watch has relatively little bearing on whether I do. However, this time we are in agreement.

This is the ice-blue gradient version - or as Tissot call it the ice-blue chameleon. That's probably due to the fact that it's not really a simple gradient; the bottom, darker blue section sometimes refracts the light a bit and turns a purple colour. I rather like it, it's generally speaking a fairly subtle colour change. In fact the colour is quite a bit more subtle than the very in-your-face mint green is, yet is more complex in general than the unicolour mint. Without further ado, here are the photos...

They are both lovely. You can see the purple quite clearly on one of your pictures. The gradient is very well done.
Do you think you will keep both?

I think I may have an insight into why many non-WIS folk think the PRX is more expensive than it is. I recall a quote relating to Rolex that went something like: Make it shiny and reflective and it will look even more expensive than it is.

The PRX bracelet, while fully brushed, has many links that are both short and flat. Today is quite overcast and dull, yet when taking the photos above, the light kept reflecting off the myriad of flat links as I moved my wrist; every movement meant the reflection jumped from one link to its neighbour, catching the eye each time it shifted, adding a bling factor that a brushed bracelet does not normally possess. I can see that shiny & reflective = expensive logic is a little bit at play here. Just a thought...

Do you know, I bought a 12 variant in the sale, which I'm. Still thinking about, but the 12 bracelet does exactly the same thing.yiu describe.

The Ice Blue is genuinely more subtle than the Minty Green Gary, but seriously . . . .

I thought I'd made it suitably time-parodox-y and confusing. :)

That's (embarrasingly) old behaviour for me. Although maybe I've improved, at times I'd bought triplets or even more.

It’s nice to see that even with all the upheaval, some things never change
