That's really very nice and may be a better stop gap to a GS than a SARB.blowfish89 wrote:Good to know your opinions on the Advisor lads, bummer.
I know James has been looking for opinions on the Seiko Brightz 'Grand Cocktail Time'. and so have I. It looks just like a Grand Seiko.

I'm thinking of getting either the SARB or the Brightz as a small upgrade to my Victorinox.james80 wrote:blowfish89 wrote:Good to know your opinions on the Advisor lads, bummer.

It would be nice to hear a comparison between it and a SARB.
My issue is the Brightz is twice the price of the SARB when I really want a GS. As a hold over does the Brightz make sense? We need more info / reviews.blowfish89 wrote:I'm thinking of getting either the SARB or the Brightz as a small upgrade to my Victorinox.james80 wrote:blowfish89 wrote:Good to know your opinions on the Advisor lads, bummer.

The Brightz can be obtained for $550 on Rakuten Global (SARB for $337). I think the upgrades are worth it - Diashield scratch-resistant coating on watch and bracelet, sapphire crystal with AR, steel bracelet, and finer, more complex beveled case. But if you like aesthetics of the Cocktail Time more, it obviously isn't worth going for the Brightz. The only Grand Seikos in the 2-3k range are the quartz one, so if you compare against the Automatic or Spring Drive ones, the Brightz is atleast 5-6 times cheaper, and comes very close in looks (not in movement). The GS will obviously also have better finished hands and indices, but the dials on the SARB065 and SDGM001 and SDGM003 and SDGM007 are breathtaking.james80 wrote:My issue is the Brightz is twice the price of the SARB when I really want a GS. Also, don't forget the Cocktail Time is 13.1mm (thick), while the Brightz is only 11.5mm.james80 wrote:Interesting, I've never factored diashield into this and I agree an auto GS is a lot more but I could live with a Quartz one (by live I mean own, love cherish etc). And yes the SARB cocktail time has a fantastic dial but I don't like the case or lack of bracelet.
